DVX100a........any negatives for buying it over a DVX100b?

Ok so I found a mint DVX100a with 120 hours on the heads. One thing that is keeping me from buying it is the fact that I heard they stopped making parts for the DVX100a. Is this true. Basically if it goes bad am I screwed?

Secondly. It comes with the DVX book, but not the magic bullet or anything. Does that mean it's grey market or is it legit?

Thanks for the help. Reply back fast please!

No, magic bullet was a special promotion. 120 hours on the heads aren't much actually. I'm sure we've done more than that and it's still in use. (But we do clean the heads often). The DVX100b has a squeeze mode, the DVX100a doesn't. This may not be an issue to you. Others with the 100b may be able to tell you more.

I'm more worried about parts avalibility just in case something were to break on the DVX100a. I don't need squeeze mode because I'll be shooting 4:3.

Correct me if im wrong but, DVX100a and the 100b are almost physically identical. I don't see why you wouldn't be able to take most parts from the 100B and use it on the 100A model...

Barry listed 22 improvements on the 100b in the DVX book, just a few of them:

higher resolution on the LCD and viewfinder and the full underscan area is visible

iris and focus can be controlled remotely

no more headphone echo

timecode sync and scene file transfer between cameras

cleaner image noise

5+ hour battery

display off button clears all data from the screen- much nicer for framing shots!

And if you go with the 100b, Panasonic extended the $250 rebate, book, and software deal: http://catalog2.panasonic.com/webap...logId=13051&itemId=94944&surfModel=AG-DVX100B

I'm buying used so there would be no $250 dollar rebate.

New question. The seller is from Brooklyne, NY. Isn't that where a lot of fradulant businesses are? It's used and he has pictures and stuff that look legit. He also has 100% feedback. Wish me luck on winning the auction!
