Alright so basically i have been not impressed at all about the footage i have been getting from the xl2... i want more of a cine look and from comparing footage from the xl2 and the dvx the dvx clearly has a more defined film look... would you recommend selling the xl2 and getting a DVX?

It's cliche, but you should look at both and decide which you like better. The glass on the XL2 is nice, but I still prefer to use the 100 for narrative work. There was a situation recently, where we had a choice for a short, of using a DVX100A or an XL H1. We ended up using the DVX, simply because we liked the look better. It wasn't necessarily "Better", just different. Hope that helps.

I bet ur gonna love getting rid of the horrible lens on the xl2. The dvx has far superior image control when it comes to scene files etc.

As stated above, alot of it has to do with how you can set up the camera and the footage, but overall, I like the DVX for narative work, the XL2 is better for sports if anything.

The xl2s lens has a mind of its own. The only way I would get an xl2 was if someone gave me one with the expensive fully manuel lens included. Soderberg only used the xl1s with that optional fully manuel lens, otherwise his ops would have shot themselves. But Full Frontal was terrible anyway, so who knows.
