X-Men Origins: Wolverine

I gotta say, when I was a kid Wolverine was one of my favorite comic heroes and I liked about him is how thorned and conflicted inside this man was. I don't think Huge Jackass...ops...I mean Hugh Jackman ever truly captured this essential essence of the character. To be frank I don't like what Jackman did with wolverine at all. Not to mention that Wolverine was a very short fella. I think that a good choice would have been a young Harvey Keitel after gaining a few pounds os muscle. His fierce and he's a real actor, not some tall stuf the studios got for marketing reasons.
I felt the same way about all of their casting choices, but Jackman is an excellent actor, on both stage and screen. Same can be said about Patric Stewart. Jackman isn't ideal for the role, but he brings it to life, unlike the rest of the X Men. As far as Harvey Keitel, short of building a time machine he isn't a likely candidate, so try again with a realistic pick.

I don't think you can rap Jackman for not playing something that doesn't seem to have been in the scripts he was given. I think Bryan Singer came at an earlier Wolverine, before the comics loaded him down with so much superhero-angst bullshit that it was a wonder he could do anything, and I think Jackman was the perfect actor for it.

At any rate, the trailer looks good, but you can make any movie look good in a trailer. X3 looked good in the trailer. :) I'm certainly more interested in this now, but the pain of X3 is still too recent for me to trust them entirely...

Brett Ratner was the problem with 3. I trust any non-Ratner X-men will suck much less than 3.

Here's my list of complaints about the X Franchise-
The original core group consisted of-
1) Prof Xavier
2) Cyclops- The Strong leader
3)Jean Gray- The Hotty and love interest of Cyclops
4)Beast- Hank McCoy who started out as a genius and acrobat, later turning blue and fuzzy
5) Ice Man- like the Human Torch, only frozen
6)Angel

Wolverine, Storm, and the rest of them came along much later. In the comics, Rogue sucks all the power out of Ms Marvel, killing her, and being permanently endowed with all her powers like super strength and flight. In the movie, she is a hazard and a permanent Damsel in Distress.

They were looking at a Trilogy at the very least, yet they chose to just lump in a few new heroes and villains with each new movie, without going through the trouble to bring them along so that we get to know them.

No Sentinals until that tiny scene in 3.

A fair amount of us know the comic book history. Thankfully they didn't wait to introduce Wolverine. Following your logic he wouldn't have been around. I'm glad they mixed it up a bit.

The first two movies in the series were both very good IMHO.
The third one sucked. I agree with Gage as to the reason why.

Wolverine has always been a fan favourite. It made sense to run with him.

Trailer actually looks good. But all action movie trailers LOOK good. I never liked the X-men movies too much so I may wait to see this on Bluray.

I went in with low expectations. I was pleasantly surprised. I really enjoyed this movie, but the ending was WAY rushed.

The good: Great character development, good cameos for those who know more about the X-Men series, good plot line, LOVED the intro (all of the wars with Sabertooth).

The bad: Again, too rushed, Gambit didn't have a thick enough accent, and Deadpool was NOT given enough time. He's way mouthy, and I could listen to that for quite a bit longer. Also, I had no idea who that black Nightcrawler was.

The Ugly: Some of the CG: Wolverine in from of mirror with claws out ... very awkward. Prof. X younger ... awkward ... kids running to Prof X ... didn't believe it.

This movie reached new levels of assedness. This will be somewhat spoilery, but not too much.

FIRST: Mother effing CGI. These were definitely SPECIAL EFFECTS. Special as in Olympics. I was pulled from the story so many times by the shoddy effects that eventually I just scoffed it off. I echo the above sentiments. The scene in front of the mirror looked like Microsoft Paint Animations. Six gray sticks loosely floating against his hand. Professor X looked like a friggin Shrek character, and the kids running was just...horribad. I mean seriously...you could see the black outline on actors during some of the green screen effects. Emma's diamond skin (for the three seconds we saw her in the movie) looked like someone bedazzled a claymation Barbie.

TWO: The dialogue was so banal and drab, that I was like, "WTF is this? Mortal Kombat: Annhilation?" I have seen Barney episodes with deeper conversations. They even went as far as using the "I'm so cold" line.

THREE: The story direction failed as a whole. I mean like, UWE BOLL fail. Zero just randomly pulls out a gun and shoots Logan's cigar in public but no one says a thing. Sabertooth throws him against a semi that...yep...keeps right on trucking after having hit a man. Most of the characters you see in the trailer who aren't named Wolverine get about a ten minute cameo, save Creed and Stryker who co-star. Deadpool was gay and pretty mushy for a super-mutant. And wtf was with the scene after the credit. He goes from having skin grafted to his face to cover his mouth, but after the credit...whup! It's gone! Oh...and why the hell would he say, "Shhhhhh." Does he think we're going to tell Wolverine he's still there in the middle of the crashed reactor? Oh, I get it...he's reminding us to turn off our cell phones at the end of the movie...that's it!

This movie sucked the gay out of Liberache's anus, digested it, shat it out on some German chick, ate it...then transformed into celluliod.

The Transformers 2 trailer was easily the best part of the movie.

Thanks, Michael Bay!

Rod - I've been trying to describe my feelings towards this movie to my friends b/c for some reason they thought it wasn't bad., but I couldn't find the right words. But you are literally spot on. I'll just read what you said to them.

This movie was bad.

I mean, I'm talking X3 bad.

Bad CG (SPOILER: Jar-Jar Xavier in his plastic Airwolf at the end was the worst, but there was a lot of other bad stuff in there), bad script... actually fairly decent acting from Jackman and will.i.am, Schreiber and Reynolds as well... but overall, just bad.

BTW, and this is SPOILERish as well, but what did y'all see after the credits? All we got was a brief Stryker sequence in the midst of them, and then Wolverine in some bar with an Asian bartender that ended with him saying "Drinking to remember." From Rod's post and some other things I'd seen, I was expecting Deadpool again, but nothing? Did the theater screw something up, or are there multiple versions out there, or what?

I saw that ending too and asked about it.... and got an answer...

"two different tag scenes -different prints - you saw the Japan one"

I actually liked it... it was fun.... not amazing, but fun... MUCH better than LAST STAND... IMO

i liked this movie and the way the story was told.......but how do you get $150 million dollar production budget and your action sequences and CGI look no better than a van damme movie from the 90's??? wtf?
