Our hats off to Ghostbusters (in music video form)

Here is a video we shot a few months back and it is finally released. Its a fun little ode to Ghostbusters. All the props were custom built from scratch including a working ghost trap.

ghost created in 3D Studio Max and Flame. lighting, effects, color were done in Smoke. (all effects by Animal)

thoughts?

I must say, that is a good looking video!
I think am going to buy a HVX200 CAM FOR SURE NOW.
I like the color in this video keep up the good work.

the video work was really quite nice. what did you use to mask in the sky?

but i have to say the half-assed ghost and lighting effects did a total disservice to the very nice camera and lighting work.

and the song - BLECH! that was SOOOO "every band that made it big in the last five years" all rolled into one song.

another coincidence, I watched the vid thish morning whilst avoiding the first half hour of work - and only after I finished watching it and looked down, did I realise that I'd elected to wear my ghostbusters t-shirt today!

Nice vid - looked good & was nicely shot and graded. I presume some kind of adapter was used there?

The costumes and props were awesome, really first class, as were the streams. Which makes me think it's a bit of a shame about the actual ghost, which didn't really do alot for me, it just didn't seem to be up to scratch with the rest of the stuff.

Great vid though - (oh and great location!)

yay ghostbusters - yay you

great video.... going with a such a retro idea was a good call. the band is indeed typical, so to go with a typical concept, the whole pckg would have seemed like every other young artist/young filmmaker out there. this one stands out.

i think the aesthetic of the ghost was perfect.

well done.

I thought the ghost fit quite well and the animation style fit perfectly. The CC on the performance threw me off at first but I began to like it as the video progressed. Overall great work guys!! oh yeah, I LOVE the new Devil Wears Prada vid.

I saw this yesterday and my hats off man, great job. What adapter did you guys use? (if any)

Also are the band members composited into the performance scene? One of the singers is lit differently than everyone else and it was throwing me for a loop

No adaptor on this one.

No one was composited. The color grading we did on the performance required us to mask off certain colors (the drumset was originally bright gold and the drummers shirt had bright green markings on it) - that might be why its odd looking i guess...?

that could be it, one guy is more brown than the others which is why I thought it was composited.

Awesome job man, we got a RED shoot in October and I'm psyched to get my hands dirty with it

Damn. That was great! Just to confirm it, this was shot with an HVX right?? What frame rate did you shoot at for the regular motion? and what frame rate did you shoot at for the slow motion?

what kind of lighting did you use in the library?

several different setups.

for part of the shelves we had a truss set up above the shelves to hold lights from above. i think we used several 4 bank kinos and some par cans. and we also used some larger lights a 5k i believe to pound in through a window.

for a few pickup shots of them walking down the books we just used existing lighting which was florescent bulbs above the bookshelves.

the final showdown was alot of lighting ranging from several 5k, 2k, par cans, and kinos.

some of these setups are illustrated in the attached photos.
