Anyone have any useless talents?

Sadly according to the Official Formal Guidelines Paragraph 3 on 03 13 2006 stipulates:

Although strickly it does not exclude theology and that would indicate CP as being partially right, my understanding is that is what is being pointed towards.

Jarred Knows best in this case.

Whoops, sorry. I misunderstood the post a ways back. See what happens when I don't think things through? I look like a giant ass...

Nick, you didn't get it wrong par se, you are partly correct. I think its a possible grey area, but probably a case under self moderation.

Most definitely but if I had paid more attention I never would have made the comment in the first place. Using common sense, that would obviously be a breech.

Just like if I said that you should all vote for [censored] for President.

Nick, its ok to make a bobo now and then we all do it all the time, heck thats what makes us human. And I like being a human :D

What was this thread supposed to be about, anyway? Oh, yeah, useless talents. Hm...:D

Well I'm rather weary about the the whole "useless" aspect of the OP, that word maybe a bit paradoxical, because it is relative in nature.

What one may find "useless" maybe highly useful to another person,

take for example the DVXuser who can navigate in the dark, well useless for the most part, except say someone who has been kidnapped and put in a dark cellar (presumably for one of my Films) , that talent would really help that guy escape..

Oh, this is a good point. There is a very subjective nature of the term "useless." I rule that it means useless to YOU, the person with the talent. Carry on...

Lets further complicate the matter, "useless talent" is self contradictory.

On the one hand if "talent" is seen as the capacity to do something (regardless of its relative merits)

and the function of "useless" is meant as:

that which has no purpose or function, then if one does not do anything that in it self would constitute "useless", however that contradicts the "talent" variable because that indicates the requirement of actually doing something in order to meet the first criteria.

Put another way:

purposely having the capacity to do something that is of no purpose.

That makes it the classical Epimenides paradox eg "this statement is false"

But useless can also mean: "Without use or possibility to be used."

So a useless talent might be something you can do well, but there's no use or practical purpose for doing it...

If something yeilds nothing, and nothing also yeilds nothing, then why do something to yeild nothing when nothing already yeilds nothing.

Well, that's more Boolean logic I think...

It's not that it yields nothing - the person might get something out of it... but everyone else finds it useless... thus, by popular vote it's deemed "useless".

Let me clear this up for you all:

Some people are born with certain talents, some of those talents may have no practical function for the talent holder, which makes the talent useless in his eyes.
