Film scorer, where to go?

Hope I'm not too off topic here. I am a film scorer looking to work on a film project. I came to the audio forum in DVX to start shooting ideas around but it seems to be mostly about audio capture. I specialize in the musical score. My question is this; Am I overlooking a forum topic? Can anyone direct me to a place where I might be better served? Maybe I'm in the right place and looking in the wrong topics. You'd think that a forum as complete a DVX user would have a scoring topic. If this is a dumb question please be easy on me. Thank you

Thank you. However, I guess to everyone I ask. Is this the only place for scoring on the DVX user forum?

I too compose score and play/record music and have thought it would be nice to have a place to discuss it.

Besides writing currently I play around on an array of guitars I've collected. I'm using a M-audio 88 key MIDI controller, a Korg Triton 76, & all sorts of software; my latest is GPO. Anybody use GPO Garritan Personal Orchestra? I have it and I'm still having trouble with registering the thing, ....any ideas? The stock Steinway sounds nice to my ear, especially with the piano-verb fx. It's a great sounding package, not on the scale of Vienna but well within my budget.

It would be nice to talk about composition and arrangments and the affect it produces, styles, etc.

I think this forum would be the most accurate place here to discuss scoring, but like I said, if you're looking for work, the TwilightFest forum would be your best bet.

Sowlobro... I'd be interested in hearing some of your work!
PM me or post a link to some demos.

Welcome to DVXuser!

Dear ZAZACAST. I just got your post. I've got to fix my notifications now. I just recently went full time on scoring. Unfortunately, my site is in the works. The only site I have right now is in French but please stay tuned.

I have found composers for projects when I was working as the music supervisor on these forums:

http://www.sputnikmusic.com/forums/index.php

http://composersforum.ning.com/

You can also throw up a quick page for your demos on LinkedIn, MySpace and similar sites until your own website is functioning.

You can also find lots of freebee work to gain experience on sites like Craigslist and Mandy. You can also check out indietalk and 2-pop. You're going to have to do a fair number of freebees to expand your reel and get your workflow together.

go to "soundsonline (dot) com" and look into their forums. Lots of worldwide composers including the game and video industry.

Soundsonline.com is a great forum!

I hang out there regularly. There are tons of awesome composers there, from newbies to seasoned professionals.
