The 35mm adapter "for the people"

You can search these boards and find about a dozen people who sell DIY adapters. This thread isn't for that...it's limited to find just how many adapters will give you full detail on how to build one. They are out there, but you have people who are "well i bought this and it's not there anymore, or I don't have a part number, but you can find something that will work" sort of run around. Or maybe some pictures of the inside, but very little detail. Like it's a secret. And or the links are dead. Or, I'll build you one for x amount of dollars for my the labor and time it took me to build it. I've been down the vibrating adapter road, and they just don't cut it for me. I want spinning GG that has no visible grain, sharpness with nice bokeh. The ability to swap out diffuser screens on the fly and adjustable back focus. I've got that and almost ready to be built. I want to be able to show some people out there that you "might" not have to spend the thousands of dollars some people charge if you can build one for less, depending on your taste.

So yeah, if you don't want to build one, go buy one from somebody who will make it for you. But seriously, why? When you can build one for the same price, if not cheaper, to do it yourself.

And so far the build I have, with achromat, costs less than his without.

I wasnt meaning to offend you in any way or your quest to perfect your adapter, as I said I built mine as well because it was MUCH cheaper than the mainstream adapters (ie letus,sg pro, brevis ect.), I was just providing the resources I had used in the past. Good luck and I will be watching the thread.

laugh, no way man. I'm not offended at all....seriously. Internet doesn't seem to pick up on my mood, unless you put a little smily face or something and I think those things are dumb.

yeah understandable,

i've been looking to make a spinning adapter as well but havent found the resources (as you've stated)
so im really excited to see your results

Not yet....you'll find out at the end when it's fin'.

Well, one that isn't cut, I have no idea where it's from. My buddy grabbed a sheet from his work. So we'll have to see about where it's made.
The second one is easy to get. And it runs $2.00, without it being cut.

Car3o,
Are you going to post where you bought all the parts?
I'm really interested in knowing where you bought the motor with that long shaft and those tiny shaft tighteners.
Centering the GG has been my biggest headache.
I would really appreciate your posting the vendors.

Thanks

Polanski, I will be posting websites/vendors of everything I bought. It's all noted and there should be more than once place where I bought each item...and specialty orders I had made just for this will be available to purchase too. but that's entirely up to you if you want to use it for your adapter.

couple more hours, although on a side note....

I just ordered my box/house today and it should be here within the week.
Secondly, I had to adjust one of the rings I ordered to be a tad bit bigger. So that could arrive the same time the box does, meaning...it will be made soooooooooonnn.
All the parts are ready it seems. This weekend I'm going to get my motor mount. That's the last of the misc stuff.

I'm pretty amped myself here as well. More to come...

Until next time...look both ways before crossing an intersection.

And....befoer I forget...what kind of color scheme would be cool? I really want redrock blue, but that's becoming redundant. The mount rings are what I was thinking of coloring or the plates to the box. Maybe yellow/black red/black blue/black pumpkin orange/black

Any thoughts would be cool.

The box/housing came in today. But the other 2 remaining parts have not. I had to order a nikon mount online and have to wait till it arrives to accurately measure it for the piece I need made for it. Plus my new achromat is coming too!. I got it for a reduced cost allowing me to use it for a promotion. He said, if it does well, he'd be willing to cut the cost of the achromat to sell to the public. The normal price is $135.00. Although, he didn't say how much.

All in all, things are going good with getting the exact parts I need so everyone will be able to use the same ones I do. Making it easy for people to order what I have, or modify it on their own.

Car3o, I hope your suppliers send the parts worldwide. If they do not, we wont be able to use the same parts you do.

Yeah, good point. But so far my parts have all come outside of the US.
Mount came from Hong Kong.
Motor came out of the UK
Achromat came out of London...I think?
Case was US, but I believe they ship Internationally.
The special made parts, I believe so becuase he was helping a guy on the forums out in UK.
The GG, I'll have to check on, if not, I can always order and ship out to whomever needs one. If they desire.
And the rest is your nuts and bolts and hobby supplies.

I'll make it work for everyone.
