What Rob Zombie IS Directing Next!

This caught my attention for pretty obvious reasons but this could be a pretty solid entry...

From AICN

Check out the pretty sweet poster for Rob Zombie's Tyrannosaurus Rex!
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. People assume I hate Rob Zombie because of my opinion of his HALLOWEEN remake and the rather upset review of his script for the movie. Truth is, I like DEVIL'S REJECTS quite a bit and I think if he focuses his filmmaking he can turn out really fun, disturbing and horrific work.

So, when I saw the poster (thanks to a tip off from DDOG) for his upcoming TYRANNOSAURUS REX over at Shock Till You Drop my immediate reaction was, "That's pretty cool," and "Cool tagline." (PS Zombie released it through his MySpace page!)

I don't know what the movie's about, but I know it's due for a late '09 release, so I'd say this is something that is made to sell the flick... maybe to foreign markets. Looks fun... it actually looks like something I'd see on the shelf at the mom and pop video store as a kid. The kind of thing that wouldn't be at the chain store, but you could find at the family owned store... that was often run down and smelled like mold, but had the films that kind of felt dangerous to watch.

What do you folks think?

I want to see this just based on the poster. Or even just the title and tagline...or just the title! "It's called T Rex." "I'm in!" I imagine that's how the meeting with the studio execs went...

Rob Zombie is the real deal.

If you have not yet seen HOUSEo1kC or The Devil's Rejects, give them a shot. I can't wait for this. He is one of my current favortie filmmakers working right now even if the Halloween film didn't work for me.

It certainly isn't the same old, same old with Zombie. I haven't seen Halloween, but his other movies are cool. I like Sherry the psycho babe.

actually Halloween by zombie was one of my all time favourite films! love love loved it. he's so awesome, i cant wait to see what this next ones gonna be like!

This thread is missing far too many sarcasm smilies.

IMO, RZ's best work to date was the fake trailer in Grindhouse.

I love Rob Zombie's work too - and I am not a fan of slasher flicks in general. "House of 1000 Corpses" was unreal...So horrifying. And "The Devil's Rejects" blew me away. It's like a beautiful cross between the perspective of "Natural Born Killers" and the grittiness of the "Chainsaw Massacre" films. That probably sounds awful to a lot of people, but I mean it takes only the best qualities from those films and blends them with an incredibly stylized violence that is nightmarish, resulting in a brilliant mindf***.

I have a hard time convincing people to watch these films; hopefully the new Halloween made him more accessible (though not to jpeck I guess :) ). Glad to see some fans of his here.

Meh, I guess I just don't 'GET' Rob Zombie.

As a huge fan of the original Halloween, I was frustrated with the choice of direction Zombie took with the film. I don't expect anyone to come up with new/unique ideas, but at least build upon what we already have, which is something I don't see in his films.

Corpses was just weird and stupid to me.
Did not see his Halloween yet.

but Rejects was fairly brilliant. Loved that film. Very challenging in where it asks you to place your sympathies, but very interesting for that fact and exceedingly well done. Felt like he was exploring / exploiting something on a much deeper level than most filmmakers. There was a strong, unique voice here and a lot of confidence.

I think he could even emerge as one of our great filmmakers.
