I haven't been doing filmmaking in a while so...

Men who fell ......that fab sci fi movie shot on DVX-100
I can't locate anything on it ...last heard it was in a distribution deal....
I wanna see, buy this thing...any tips? Buzz?

Yeah I've been googling it every few months since I heard about...Pretty bummed he's never been back to tell us about a release. Hope they're doing well with it though...one of the most interesting looking dvx projects I've seen here.

Well I loved everything about the trailer.... every damn thing.....better then most
$1Mil sci-fi prodctions ........ and the trailer cutting, pacing was great......
it was avail in Japanese version , but no longer in print.......so I'd sure love to know when we get to see it

Shame. I'd love to see that. Seems that DVX movies have a very hard time getting released on DVD, and it makes me think the filmmaker should just sell it themselves. I'd buy it! But obviously distribs believe general audiences wouldn't accept a film with the DVX look. I'm still awaiting Firefly on DVD (not the Joss Whedon series, but the DVX movie I saw at a fest). It was incredibly good. But 3 years later, there's neither hide nor hair of it.

"But obviously distribs believe general audiences wouldn't accept a film with the DVX look." - dvx look? do you mean a phony film look?

lol. i highly doubt distribs didnt buy the movie because it was shot on a dvx. it prob didnt get sold cuz of the story. who knows how many distribs were amazed at the trailer and when it came down to it the story sucked. now i dont know any of this and i cant say for sure that the movie sucked but its to me, a more logical reason why it didnt get released. i saw the trailer and i was simply amazed by it. has anyone seen the movie? can anyone elaborate? there selling point was prolly the production value on such a tiny inexpensive cam but coudlnt follow with the story. like the anticipation of that video game release that we all want. bein sucked into the beautiful graphics months after months only to have the gameplay suck. same principal for a moivie

Here's the Japanese (?) DVD cover. Pretty slick.

Dunno about that, last year there were 3 dvx movies showing here, in a 2 month period, November, Murderball, and some dance film (doc) all in local theaters.

Men who fell looked superb, from what I saw of the trailer. A theatrical release is a huge financial risk , but it damn well deserved a US dvd release....... then again lots of small movies take some time before a dvd release appears.
Lots of fine, low budget movies never appear in major US theaters, or get real US distribution......specially foreign ones... read somewhere, only 1% of foreign movies ever get seen in the US.

Hi, my name is Ignatius Fischer, I wrote and helped produce The Men Who Fell (I was the "crew" for a good part of the shoot, in addition to helping fab some of the sets and stuff like that). Will Stewart is the director, production designer, model-maker, and cinematographer. Dennis Farris was the producer, editor and visual fx artist.

The flick was indeed shot in Tucson, AZ, on the original DVX100 model with the Panasonic anamorphic adapter. It took about four years to make, $25K from the producer's pocket, another $20K from the releasing agent (finishing funds) and yada yada.

The movie sold to Germany, Japan, and a couple territories in China and it is showing (has been shown) on Canadian television. That seems to be about it, it's been to the domestic distribution show twice and been passed on. So, it would appear that there will be no domestic DVD release. I personally have yet to receive an actual finished copy of the film myself. As to why it didn't sell more, I think honestly it is a combination of story and editing slowness. The trailer is actually very misrepresentative of the final product - the movie is so not an action/adventure film, it's actually an art house sci-fi horror flick. Anyway, it was our first feature, and whatever it amounted to, it was certainly one of the most valuable learning experiences I've ever had.

Case in point, I've just completed principle photography on my own feature film, Lisl and the Lorlok, a dark fairy tale. I started a thread about this production in the User Films section (http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=145705) where you can find out more information about that project.
