What's funny is I figured if I even suggested flying into LA this weekend my wife would have squashed the idea immediately - given that I was gone for a while recently (in Panama) and I'm leaving town for the next two weekends or so for different shoots....

I was telling her about the screening last night, lamenting that I couldn't go, and she's the one that reminded me we had some miles we haven't redeemed.
Sometimes she's supportive to a fault.

Probably for the best - I'd have to fly back early Saturday to prep for a shoot on Sunday. Damn it, you guys make it sound like so much fun though.

I didn't have any miles left either; it ended up costing almost $700 for a ticket. Arriving noon Friday, departing 7:00 a.m. Saturday to land here at 5:19 p.m. in time to make a 6:00 p.m. gig.

So come on, mr. Wookie-in-a-tux... book the too-expensive banzai instant-turnaround trip... all the cool kids are doing it...

Anyway, I finally actually had time to read the event thread. This is gonna be a pretty good time. Like I said, I live about 3 blocks from Cinespace, so if anyone needs a tour of the local bars or a place to stay, I'll go ahead and offer that up. I'm moving in a week so I figure there's little risk of you internet weirdos doing too much damage. :)

Also, seriously, this starts at 6pm? I might have to skip work that day.
 
Oh and if you're flying in (like a lot of people seem to be doing! crazy!) then the FlyAway bus from LAX is actually a pretty good way to get in. That'll take you to Union Station, and from there the Red Line will take you to Hollywood & Vine, about 2 blocks from Cinespace. Total cost about $4. I recommend it.
 
Sure! My place can fit about 8 people and there's no TV, food, or anything to drink!

Seriously, though, if people need to crash, that's cool. As long as you're out early enough that I can start moving the next day!

Yes, Kevin, it appears that we will be able to get you an exemption. It is necessary to get the approval from CINESPACE, which has tentatively given me the go-ahead. However, they take their license very seriously and it is necessary to have all supervising staff sign off. We see no reason to doubt this will occur, but obviouisly we don't want to pester them. Be patient and I anticipate that we will have the sign-offs by Wednesday.

He was off at camp and didn't get back till last night. He is excited and hopes he can attend, as do we. But he will be 18 for the next fest so if we are lucky enough we will all submit our own shorts and see how we each fair at directing. So you guys will have at least 4 submissions all with the same five people just in different roles exciting huh. Of course I will have my wife and kids helping out for sure next time...
 
Alright, I gots a ride, now I just need a place to get hammered and take off all of my clothes.
