New Hip Hop video shot on super low budget

This is a music video I shot for an up and coming Hip Hop artist.

Shot on HVX at 720 30p with a Cinevate Brevis mini 35
Canon FD lenses: 28mm 50mm 135mm and 100 to 200 zoom

Super low budget (had our gas and food covered) as the artist is just starting out.

Any feed back would be greatly appreciated!

I thought the clip was quite well done, a lot of good movement and a number of different locations to keep it feeling fresh.

I liked the majority of the editing, particularly the fast cutting when the bass drum would speed up, however I had issues with the few times you cut from full screen, to half screen, to quarter screen. To me, changing the frame size like that and just letting black take up a lot of your screen isn't a good effect. I can appreciate it if it's for something like splitscreen, which you did a couple of times, but if it's just the one clip being condensed from full screen all the way down to a much smaller frame, I think it hurts the video rather than helps it.

I'm sure there's probably another effect you could come up with to work around it, maybe something even like splitting the the screen vertically into three portions, and cut the image up and have it scroll across in the portions of three. So let me try and explain this, if you've got the screen cut up like this:

| | | |
| | | |
| | | |
| | | |
| | | |

(1) (2) (3)
-------> --------> -------->

Then say, have imagine one flow up, followed by two, followed by three etc, as it goes across the page. I think something like this could possibly work better, but who knows, maybe I'm just talking out my ass...

Hope my feedback helped!

EDIT: Ok so my diagram didn't show up properly, just imagine those lines are spaced out to the aspect ratio of a screen.

Yeah that was a nice video!
you did a good job on that one,it look better then some of the stuff on BET by far.
keep up the good work.
Man I like the color.

Hey Cleavage2 thanks for the input
I do agree with the half frame stuff
I wasn't the editor , just the DOP and did the small effects and CC on the final edit
but I will pass on your info to the editor.
