So this has been my first project graduating from the DVX to the HVX -- and i'm in love.
I've been filming a little rock doc for the band and they wanted a little teaser for their new album coming out in September.
They gave me 60 sec. worth of a song and I through a bunch of shots together. I'm really glad how it came out.
I'd love any feedback. Enjoy.

nice

nice

cool footage. how much time did you spend with the band?

did i see a shot of Matt Wignall in there? I know he photographs them .. he was our wedding photog way back when..

that's really funny. yeah, wignall was my wedding photographer as well.
I ended up shooting around 60 hours over 4 months or so, and then I've just been slammed with editing, trying to get the final product done.

Funny, I bumped into them on the tube in London a year or so ago... gave me a badge, so I took the time to listen to some of their stuff. Quite good actually :)

Looks fun, looks like you have been through a lot with them. They are a rad band. Looking forward to seeings the final product.

did you use any kind of on-board light? i would think a lot of the places you were shooting indoors must have been decently dark. did you shoot wide open a lot?

yeah, wide open with a ton of gain. i started of with an VidLed onboard light (great light), but didn't like what it was doing for the look. i knew they liked the grain of film and that it was going to be primarily a dirty black and white in the end, so i ditched the light and cranked the gain. worked out perfect for the look and feel of the band. There's only a couple moments in the final project that i could have used a stop of light.

that was really really good, the grain was spot on aswell... enough to give it that look, and enough to not make it look generic..

Thanks for all the great feedback.
I've got the full length (35 min.) doc being released with the band's new album, "Loyalty to Loyalty" on Sept 23. I'm really happy with it, and it's actually nice to know that DVXuser.com has really played a big part in my career/skills. I just realized that... thanks everyone.
