Hi guys,

I have a quick question. I always thought that great art and story telling should be something to be proud of, but what if you made something dumb and it got a lot of hits, should you be proud of that as well?

Here is the top viewed video from youtube this week

I mean, should i just forgot everything i know about film making and try to make the most annoying thing ever?

That made my soul hurt and lose some respect for humanity.

The answer is no, the real dignity is in making something timeless.

Hummm... I don't want to step on any toes here, but shouldn't you take this for what it is? Comedy. Lets face it the kid created a character and is running with it (I say good for him). Like Johnny said, "3 million people with internet connections can't be wrong". It's not my cup of tea (although I thought it was pretty funny), but obviously there are people enjoying it...if they didn't, he wouldn't continue making them. Is it any different than the hundreds of bad comedy flicks out there (can you say Ernst?). I guess it comes down to WHY are you making films...to be famous? To get hundreds of hits on BoobTube? Get rich? Chicks? ...or to create your vision for others to see? Take it or leave it, the kid is on to something and people are watching it. I say congratulate him and move along...karma can kick your ass!

These things come and go though. I mean honestly. He may get a million views on youtube which will definitely get him attention with companies and people. But the world is gonna get tired of a random kid telling a stupid story in a squeaky voice. But you also have to realize that this is just one audience that is attracted to this sort of thing. Youtube has slowly turned into a community of people ranging from 8 year old girls to random pedophiles living in a trailer with a laptop. I may not have understood your comment correctly but i do know that out of those bad comedy flicks there are still those true comedies out there. I mean I thought some parts of that video were funny but I would have to break out some Advil after 2 of those vids. And like you said before, you have to ask yourself why you make films? Well, that right there is the exact thing that seperates a "Filmmaker" from a kid looking for the most views on youtube.

this comment was freaking brilliant:

"If only helium could kill u...."

hahaha.. that sums up my feeling for this kid.

It's possible that all 3 million views are of people who hate the video, just like us...

that was not funny. that kids annoying. super annoying actually. fred should have got in that inflatable jacuzzi with bertha. hahahaha "j/k just joshing"
