"RPDM" by Two Bears One Cup

This entry was in no way pre-conceived or produced for anything but Timefest in the time frame for such. This is the third script idea Mark had for this contest and we decided on this one to produce. I watched Mark hammer out the script, then he flew here and we made this movie together.

Maybe I should be flattered that you think it's so good we had to have it sitting on a shelf somewhere and find the right time to release it.

Wow, thanks for all the support guys, this place is incredible.

Rock on.:dankk2::beer::beer:

Just a little backstory. I first had the idea of a movie based on thiks kind of drug last year when I heard about drugs being developed that enhanced memory. They might be used in the treatment of Alzheimers. And that was an idea I almost did for love fest. Good thing I didn't because Jason Ramsey stepped up and made a movie on the same topic I could have no way competed with.

So when timefest came around, I adapted the drug idea to one that slows down time and the side-effect is that it enhances emotion.

This was really F'ing good!
I'll comment more later. I can't really think of anything that really bothered me while watching this one. Excellent work! You guys should be extremely proud.

Cheers!

Mike
I figured that I should back this up... :D

The opening VO drug explanation works very well accompanied by some awesome visuals. I love the green tinge that's added as the bad guys walk in. I also love the colours that follow, very bright and vibrant.

Who did the effects work on the corpse? Outstanding! Really great work. Especially the flash at 3:09. WOW!

Soon after... "Cthulhu for President"... I was sold. :)

The framing that followed was perfect and the story blew me away.
I love watching a movie a second time and finding more hidden gems.

Outstanding work!
Congratulations.

Cheers,

Mike

Here's a disturbing thought ...

Lets get your Linnea Mohn together with John Abbot Mitchell's Davis Osborne. Now that's a movie begging to be made.

SPOILERS

What a great performance! Love this piece, and so much of its success belongs to her acting skills. Yes the others were good as well, no doubt, but Linnea's performance carried the film.

I didn't get that the VO liked using the F word. Wasn't her cup of tea. Other than that, her voice made for a nice, smooth delivery. Kept it from becoming expositional. Good job.

Excellent cinematic eye candy all around.

yeah, when we were casting this out of Minn, I told Joe a really great actress would be crucial to making it work. And he sent me some reel from her.

But also I spent most of my time on set with her, directing-wise, pushing her pretty hard to sink into the moments and really try to live them. But the really good thing about her, as much as her skills and talent, is from moment one, she completely put herself in my hands and trusted me. I loved working with her.

I can't even imagine the disturbia that would ensue. Oh wait ... yes i can. Mark, I'll travel, let's do this. :)

Seriously, Mark and Joe, this was really just phenomenal, I have to go back and re-watch it again (for like the 4th time), cause it's my favorite of the fest.

I certainly didn't mean there wasn't a great director and crew behind the performance. It's obvious there was. The chemistry was essential.

That chemistry is also very hard to come by.

Hope you have a celebration planned.

Why wasnt she in your movie?

Mark, this was an AMAZING film. I really feel it's your best work yet. Looking forward to a feature from you guys. It's really cool to see the regulars cut their teeth on the fests, then graduate to features. The growth is amazing to observe as one watches all their quarterly fest entries back to back.

Congrats to you and your team on crafting such a compelling work. I have so many questions. I'll PM you later.

Great job guys!

Thanks Mentat. You can put questions here in the thread. So that way, Joe can answer DP questions, cc questions, etc. I'll answer the ones I know. :)

Who did the effects work on the corpse?

A guy in Minn named Crist: http://www.myspace.com/metamorphosismakeup

A truly amazing artist and all around Mensch. Joe put together the crew in Minn, and knows Crist. I think Crist had done the make-up on Dear Jane too.

Outstanding! Really great work. Especially the flash at 3:09. WOW!

Yeah, I knew people wouldn't be able to handle a lot of that full on, so I just put those in there. :)

This one blew me away. I've got a thing for gritty surreal movies like this anyway, and I loved this one. A great example of how voice over should be used if it is used at all. I didn't feel like the monologue was ever redundant, and there was enough breathing room that it wasn't overwhelming. And the speed ramps were perfectly executed. Gotta get my hands on a variable frame rate camera one day . . .

Great work, guys. :)

WOW WOW WOW! The production value here is amazing. Your female lead is great and the concept is awesome. The male evil dude, I didn't buy completely. He did have a "Shoot-em up" bad guy feel though. The end worked well and I thought it was a great piece. This is in my top 5 favs guys!
