New style DIY shoulder mount...

is the shoulder mount one of those hose racks people use to stabilize smaller cameras?

Honestly I can't say exactly what it is. It was by itself in an unlabeled box at Home Depot. I was looking for something else, saw that and knew I found a piece I needed. I think it's used for working with windows or something. But it's the shape you see in the pictures, sort of a bent in half metal "U".

Heh, I picked up one of those thinking the same thing. I could modify it into a shoulder mount. It just seemed to bend very easy and was too light for stablizer for me. I gave up on it figuring that it would be too flimsy.

it doesn't look like the all tread is bolted to the bike rack, it where some other brace connected to the bike rack that the two all treads are hooked to?

by the way I lov the all tread going through the 15mm rods, thats by far the coolest part.

It's a little hard to explain verbally. I'll try to do some drawings today. I get to spend the entire day at the DMV. Vehicle registration and license renewal. In my down time I'll see about tending to my pad of paper.

EDIT: Also, forgot to mention the cost of it. All in all I spent about $60 in materials. Also this did take quite a bit of elbow grease. Lot of cutting and shaping metal. Plenty of cursing, and a realization of the need for safety goggles.

Here are some sketches I did today while I was at the DMV to show what's going on under all the padding and athletic tape.

yea thats what I thought it was, be carefull at those attach points, (allthreaad to cross brase) you may find theybend and maybe break easily

you could layer that brace, make it like 1/2 to 1 inchf thick, that would make it much stronger.

I'm assuming they are the galcanized brases form home depot?

Was searching for diy shoulder mount ideas and just came across your pics. Great ideas! I especially like the threaded rod through the rails. Exactly what I was look for.

Thanks!
