1080 is noticeably sharper.
Shoot 108024pa if you have the cards and storage space for the little extra sharpness. If you don't have the space or cards shoot 720pn. It's way more than acceptable.
When the camera first came out the guru's on this site and the Mods at the HVX bootcamps were all saying shoot 720, there's not much difference and the storage for 1080 is a drag, and they were right.
But go to the HD Bootcamp now and it's all about 1080. Two things changed. 1) storage became easier to deal with / more accessible and 2) a couple of us ventured out into 1080 territory and noticed that our projects had a little more pop and a little more sharpness even when winding up on standard definition DVD, and since then we've never turned back.
So if you have the storage space why not give your consumer the best product possible. For one thing you can buy into the marketing BS and promote it as full HD.
If the reason you're vascillating between formats has any thing to do with any horseshit about 1080 not working in FCP or being interlaced or any of those other stupid groundless myths put those out of your head straigh away.
1080 24pa captures and process beautifully in FCP and you wind up with true 24p motion EXACTLY like 720pn only with more resolution. Anyone that says different should be taken out back and beaten with a wet noodle.
So if storage and offload during the shoot are not issues - why not go for the resolution?
