This was really F'ing good!
I'll comment more later. I can't really think of anything that really bothered me while watching this one. Excellent work! You guys should be extremely proud.

Cheers!

Mike

That was totally amazing. What a brave performance by your actress. she was on the money throughout and hit the beats perfectly in the VO.

the opening was as good as I've seen in these fests. The use of camera speeds was so creative and the cinematography was hot.

Great work!

One plot point that escaped me was the the RP makes soldiers experiences move faster, yet it makes the recreational users experience seem longer. Was it the reverse engineering that caused this? wasn't sure.

Really strong entry though. I absolutely loved the ending. I have a feeling this one is going to do really well.

I love this film. I usually do not like voice overs but this one jerked me off. I loved the look of this, I loved the suggestion of the head being blown off instead of some cheesy effect. The incorporation of the slo mo shots fit perfectly. I can relate to his downfall being a boob man and all.

Yeah, that's what that line is meant to communicate. Someone got hold of it and altered it to reverse the effect for recreational use. thanks for checking us out!

Awesome. Loved it. Great sound, cinematography, wonderful editing, great performances. Like how nothing is explained too much.

My one complaint is the same as Jim's. I was confused on first viewing why things went slower for the druggies when they went faster for the military. I think just one more line of VO would solve this.

great short. voice over worked. (not a big fan of it used a lot, but worked for this)

acting was great. the make up and effects of the dead guy was AWESOME! loved the lighting, camera work (the speed up, slow down was really cool). well written and directed as well.

This movie is the sh*t.

And I have to say, the best use of the theme of time i've seen so far. Great work guys.

Loved it. So much style. Color was great and it just looked fantastic.

Story was awesome as well. Ending was perfect.

Normally I would have said that there should have been more back story about who people were, but it wasn't about that.

Great short film. Can't wait to see what's next for you guys.

Great Concept! Very original. And I don't think it was confusing at all, because there was that line about how someone at Berkley reverse engineered the drug... Otherwise the production values were really strong, good acting, lighting, strong sound. The only thing I wasn't crazy about was your titles. With such a slick interesting concept I would consider employing some after effects for titles. Otherwise, really great short!

Ok. Great job all around guys. Execution was really nice.

How did you like working with the HPX500 on this?

I liked the use of varied frame rates.

V.O. was nice and worked well for me.

Mark: Kudos for getting something in the fest that's actually a competing entry :)

My one and only technical beef. The ramp towards the end when he throws her off the couch... The 60fps comes through very strong visually and kinda throws me for a second out of things. Then the ramp comes through and it's all nice, though not as effective as it might have been had you started it during one of the falls or something. One, it would mask the 60fps early on before the ramp comes in. Two, the ramp might come across stronger visually if it were actually in the middle of a big movement, rather than the relatively static frame while he is on his knees. I'd love to see the moment he starts to get up to have it hit him, and watch him take a lonnngg fall to the floor.

Only reason I say it is b/c aesthetically the real time there looks like it was shot on home video before the ramp kicks in, if that makes sense :)

Maybe the best way to accomplish it would have been to have shot him throwing her down in 24p from one angle, and then cut to another angle as he begins his plunge from the couch and ramp it to the slomo right as he starts to make his exit.

Long way to describe such a little thing :)

Anyways, I'm glad you guys shared this.

Actress was real solid and her subtleties in the v.o. really helped the piece on the whole.

Actor was solid (phillip seymour hoffman looking one:) ). Had a great look, but not as strong dialog wise as the actress.

Only other thing I would say is that the audio at the 3:40 area looked a little weak.

Sorry if I'm nitpicking, but take it as a compliment.

I enjoyed this piece overall. It was well-thought, and well-executed. Felt slightly rushed which is counter to the overall vibe I feel we should be getting in context of the story with everything being slowed down... I might have preferred really taking your time exploring really minute details in more depth... Little things in the norm, but hugely detailed in this state of mind...

I'll shut up now

Thanks.

p.s... Mark, if the stars ever align, I'd love to act for you in one of your short films.

Later,
Jason
