Update.... it looks like I'm going with Kevin McLeod at http://incompetech.com for the music of my movie. Kevin has an impressive music library for all genres. You can check his website out if you're still looking for ideas for your movie. He might have just what you want. I'll be scoring the music myself though.

Well I still need to learn a lot :laugh: I was able to correct some mistakes from my first film but later discovered new ones with my second film. Hopefully, my third film will be better. You have pretty poster and banner also. It looks like you have some experience in designing them. I'm curious about what those red shoes are for in your movie now :happy:
 
Cool short.

Visually it looked nice other than the overexposed backgrounds.

Acting felt a little bit like reading but it didn't hurt the film too much.

Good job.
 
Pre-roll comments...interesting to see how another HV20 holds up.

And rolling:

Are you using the onboard mic on the HV20? Sounds a little hollow. To make the call sound more realistic, try to drop out the lower end of the EQ. Anything less than 300 knock out entirely. You will have the standard telephone call. And I need to say this: I hate the beautiful song. It killed a perfectly good song (Let it be)

Okay, I held your roll to talk about that, back to the film:

Levels change from the two shots. The background hum. The sweet line was...odd. haha. The one thing I will say is dialog sounded like a direct read. Almost zero emotion.

Highlights got blown out a little bit all over the place really. I can't figure out your sound mix. You had levels drop out a little bit here and there. And the general mix seems a little strange. I don't know why the sound came out the way it did. Maybe it's just me. I'm running off standard speakers, not my mastering ones.

The car hit is something that has been overplayed in my opinion. And the firework explosion thing coming in at 2:45 seemed... strange.

Overall, nice effort. I liked the film. Glad to see you made it in.
 
Overall....good job. I have to agree with the exposure problems here & there...and another 'hit by a car' scene is just too much. The acting was dry to me (and I know because it was in my film too!). I heard a few audio problems, mostly wind noise in a few scenes...but liked the music even if it really didn't fit right.

The fireworks? I didn't get the point, or I was expecting the HULK to come out. I also don't get the 'time' connection in this one.

Good job & kudos to all involved in this production!

Thanks for your comments. Yeah I knew when filming those scenes there would be some overexposure on the backgrounds. I just couldn't find a better location :laugh:

I'm not sure what you meant by the level changes. Can you try it again with other speakers to see if you have the same problem? The phone call was done with Sound Forge. I'm not a sound man so I just went with the default template in there. I actually want to explosion scene to be something strange and funny so I guess it serves the purpose :D

Yes the acting can be improved. Most of them are brand new to the acting thing so I'm happy that they can perform this well in the movie. The explosion scene is intended to be a surprise so you can expect anything coming out of it ;-) For the time connection, it's in the dialogs starting at 00:42 :shocked:
 
I'm pretty sure you don't have the rights to use "Beautiful Girls" by Sean Kingston.
Overall not bad, I didn't care for the abrupt audio cuts...maybe a crossfade in between the audios. jm2c

The fight scene was interestingly strange, but made me laugh.

Agree on the dry acting. The woman was certainly the most natural, at least in her first scene.

When the car hit, a notebook went flying, but it was nowhere around when BF and Driver came to the rescue.

A little disjointed. Not sure where the dream began. In the woman's first scene she was warm and friendly, but in the 'post dream' scene she was a bit of a Paris Hilton. Would that mean the first scene was part of the dream?

Glad you had a few extras to make things look more real.

Totite! I am THRILLED to see the progression from your last film to happy birthday! Thinking back on The Camera to this flick... the difference is HUGE. You've definitely gained a better understanding of just about every aspect of film making. Don't get me wrong, there are definitely problems with Happy birthday. You know it from your own impressions and the other postings... but great job on evolving since last time.
