There will be gay weddings in California at least until November. Anyone see any demand for wedding video services? We hear about huge demand for other aspects of the wedding industry (catering services, cake, hospitality etc.). And the other question - are these weddings any different to shoot compared to hetero weddings? Things like documenting the dressing of the bride might be less important or given a different context for two men versus two women etc. Anyone ever did such a video? What were the differences if any? Has anyone marketed to this demand?

There hasn't been very much time to have experience with this here in California, but there must be quite a bit of it in Canada, no? Any feedback there?

I don't suppose any dramatic differences, but just an issue of emphasis... f.ex., two guys getting hitched - well there's not likely to be any bouquet tossing, garter snapping etc. In other words, there may have to be other visual traditions developed compared to the usual "wedding video cliches", in other words, a different style with its own vocabulary may need to be developed... no? Or am I overthinking this :)?

Aren't all weddings gay?

Gay - adjective
1 bright and pleasant; promoting a feeling of cheer

All you guys may have to fight the mainstream news media for space at these weddings as they get coverage of the gay wedding story.

Ive got a freind who does all the lighting and discos for weddings. He has done so many gay weddings (or Cival partnership (or CPs)) hes stuck it on his website as a service he offers.

He dosn't seem to mind...

For as long as I've known there were gay people I've wondered why? How? Are people born or do they become gay? It's one of those riddles that I would love to see solved. I think shooting gay weddings could be really interesting gig aside from production and bread and butter. Gay couples can be quite colorful at least where I come from, really entertaining characters in many cases. Maybe there is a niche market in this but I'd think it wise to study the market a bit before plunging. Can you imagine shooting the couple from the "Birdcage" at their wedding?

I live in canada. We have gay weddings all the time. We wonder why americans are living in the stone ages on this one.

A wedding is a wedding is a wedding. Find out what they expect and give them it. Shooting a wedding of any kind is very easy.

Oh no...

*slams head into desk*

What?....It's just one riddle in five kazillion in my head as queries as to how everything works. It's a question asked in earnest of a phenomena I don't quite understand. Why him and not me, what causes that? Could just as easily been the other way round and I would still not no why.
