Caldera - a story of revolution

Yessir, it is. The whole thing was shot on an HVX/M2 combo.

Hopefully I'll have something major to release from the film in the next week or two.
Awesome, I could totally tell by the screenshots too. I just love the way the M2 makes footage look like film, makes me glad to own one :)

Haven't decided yet exactly what I want to put out there, but quite possibly a full scene. Not a trailer.

Lenses were Nikon SLR lenses, mostly the standard ones: 85mm f/1.8, 50mm f/1.4, 17-35mm f/2.8. We may have used the 105mm f/2.8 a couple times.

Hey Doug, just discovered this thread whilst wading through some past AdFest stuff. Are you still working on it? It looks phenominal and I am dying to see some footage, a teaser, or SOMETHING! Where are you in post-production and when do you think this thing will be finished?

Hi everyone... I've been off the site, busy as hell for the last couple months, but since there have been so many requests, here's an entire scene from the film. Will the film every be completed? Yes. This decade? Harder to say. I've rewritten large patches of it after some real-life experience to counter-insurgency doctrine and the real army way of doing things, and if I was doing it all over, I'd do some things differently.

But, I guess that's always the case... never stop learning! Without further ado, then...

Aah finally some footage of this beauty! Thanks for sharing a scene with us. Although it's on the back-burner right now I do hope you'll get around to finishing it. I just watched it and that was most definitly enjoyable! This piece really has the atmosphere going, even in the stills.

Good luck on finishing it

Thanks guys... support from people who actually care about someday seeing it really helps me stay focused on trying to finish it! This is a case study in why you should have two things in life:

1) a good producer
2) a good accountant

Live and learn!

I loved the opening shot with the clothes blowing in the wind and the push in by the camera.

Thanks... sometimes the best results come when you're forced to improvise! The shots I had wanted to get proved impossible once we actually got to the location... so we moved one rooftop over and used what was there instead.

I was wondering, why did you choose to give the actor's haircuts in the dialogue sequence?

Fixed now. I mean, I like getting in close and fostering paranoia as much as the next guy... but I also like setting my mattes correctly when I export!

That looks great! I had to double-check this thread to make sure that was shot on "just" an HVX and M2.
