Anyone see any HVX footage of Redrock+ Zeiss lenses?

I've been looking online. I might be getting the Zeiss package from Redrock soon, wanted to know if there are any examples or testimonials of working w/ Zeiss in comparison to Nikkon or Cannon.

it's all just tools.

there is more to your end results than just the gear. a talented shooter will get more from a crappy canon than a hack will with zeiss.

you cant just drop a pile on high end gear and expect to get a great result.

ok, but can a talented shooter get more out of a zeis than a canon?

If anything, I value the Zeiss lenses because they have higher potential should i ever sell the kit ... whereas most canon and nikkon lenses you can find on ebay for 30 / 40 bucks.

I know I just said this in another thread but it warrants repeating. The right tool for the job is better than a lesser tool, no matter what your skill level. Coming in and saying what you say, not offering any answers, while making huge assumptions that the people asking the questions aren't talented enough to do great things with the tools they are interested in isn't helping anybody at all.

Nobody asked anything about talent, or what it takes to make a good film. Dasher asked specifically about the Zeiss lenses and I think that the question is just as valid as anybody else's who wants to know the difference between the tools that could be at their disposal.

I'm looking at getting the Zeiss also (28mm and 50mm). Already ordered the Matt Box, Rods and Base Plate. I hopefully should have all of it by mid July. I will post my thoughts after receiving/test run.

I second what OXRS commented. pple should think before they respond, especially when the response has nothing to do with the originally question. sheees.

there good, I shot a music video with em. not that much better then the nikons probably I have never done compairsons you lose so much res with the m2 i think and if your on an hvx...its not all that sharp to start with so....If i was buying I would with out a doubt just get nikons but if im going to rent I'll get the zeis.

Here is the thing guys. I have used a set of high speed Zeiss primes about 40,000.00 worth 5 lens set . They are my choice, but I have to rent them also I have used a set of Zeiss lens set from Redrock, which I use there adapter with flip mod and nikon mount and I have the PL mount, let me tell you for the price of the Zeiss set you could get a set of Nikon primes a whole lot cheaper. I have test both side by side with my lens set vs. Zeiss set and they are the same. Remeber you want the highest speed you can afford on lens due to loss of light from the adapter.

dasher what did you end up buying? Im looking at the Zeiss as well. If you have any footage please share...

I recently did a Redrock shoot with Canon, Nikon, and Zeiss lenses. You have to consider the value of manual aperture on lenses like the Zeisses. However, they have no zoom functionality which means moving the tripod/handheld rig a lot for changing the shot. However, you can change their aperture in a flash.

Do you have lenses already?

so there is no ZOOM on the lens at all? You have to move the tripod with camera forward and back to zoom? Now that sounds funny. Cant be... not for the price your paying.. i must be reading your reply wrong..

no Zeiss lenses are prime lenses meaning they have one fixed focal length. So for the price of 1 Zeiss lens you could get a Canon/Nikon Zoom lens that enables you to do a lot more focal length wise. However, Zeiss lenses do have superior image quality, longer throw (important for focus pulling), and manual aperture (which Canon/Nikon newer lenses don't have)
