Delivering multiple formats on AVID 1080p and 1080i?

Greetings,

I own an AVID 5.6.3 Xpress PRO with 3.6 processor. I am shooting on the HVX200

I have a new client who wants to shoot on 1080p/23.976 and edit on that format. The client also wants to import some of separate footage that is on a HDV 1080i/60 tape and edit that footage on a 1080p/23.976 timeline.
The deliverables are as follows

HDCAM 1080p/23.976
Digital Betacam NTSC 29.97 (4x3 and 16x9)
DVD ntsc
HDV 1080i/60 tape as a backup

A) Okay so i shoot on the HVX200 24pA - i load in the footage via my firestore. I make a copy of the footage on a separte drive. I then make a use Raylight MXFX to do a pulldown removal.
B) I open up AVID and start editing in 1080p/23.98

now
1) How do i bring in a HDV 1080i/60 (which was originally shot on a HVX200 but was backed up on a HDV tape shot at 24p non-advanced) and bring it into 1080p/23.976?
2) How do i create Digibeta NTSC copies from a 1080p/23.976 timeline? Essentially renting a HDCAM deck and having it export? But won't i need some form of cross converter to have a NTSC Digibeta copy from a 1080p/23.976 HDCAM tape player?
3) Is there a way through Sorenson Squeeze to create a NTSC DVD off of a 1080p/23.976 timeline with little or no jidder or frame lags? I would need this to show the client, before i make an HDCAM output so he can approve the output before i rent the deck.

ALOT of questions i know, but it seems that there are so many different formats that clients ask for and i am always trying to come up with the best way to deliver a solid product to a client.

Thanx,

Omar

No ideas here huh :). How about just going from 1080i/60 to 1080p/23.976? I used timewarp pulldown in AVID XPRESS and AVID COMPOSER. I had no luck. I sped up the clip (125% Timewarp PUlldown - fluidmotion interlaced to Progressive) in 1080i-60 and exported to 1080p/23.976. The clip still appears to be sped up. Any ideas on how to move footage from 1080i/60 to 1080p/23.976? Has anyone ever done this successfully in AVID Xpress or Composer?

Did you download the bin that Michael supplies for you at the bottom of the page with the directions on how to do the conversion?

Ahhh yes, Michael of course. Yes, I specifically used the 24.com conversion.
http://24p.com/conversion.htm

1) I dragged the PUlldown removal effect and placed it on a video section of my timeline (1080/60i).
2) I then went under the motion effect option under the viewing screen and selected FORMAT interlaced to Progressive - selected Fluid motion.
3) I render the clip and export it as a Quicktime Reference into 1080/23.976P and import the quicktime reference file.

The file is still sped up (as it appeared after i rendered it in 1080i/60). I have used Avid xpress 5.6.1 and Composer 2.8.1 and i have the same problem. I have outputed as a full Quicktime file (instead of a reference file). In Avid Xpress the file is quick and has a "Keystone cops" style flicker. In composer the file shows up as a MATTE and is black when i play it.

What am I doing wrong? Again the footage is shot 24p but has 60I interlaced (non advanced)

I just downloaded the bins on the website as well. How does this exactly work? Does this mean, i import a 30 to 24p bin into a 1080i/60 project? This bin can be imported from one format to another with little or no adjustments. Don't understand the importance of the bins.

If you shot with pulldown inside of a 1080i, the fluidmotion will not work well since it assumes a 60 interlaced fields to create the 24p. In your case, use the 2:3 removal that you can find in the motion effects pane (I think). remove the pulldown, then export the result as a QT and import into a 23.976 project.

It's a single bin that has all the different motion effects already set up for you. All you have to do is drag the correct one onto the clip. Saves you a bunch of time.
