Hey all,

It's been a while since JTyner and I have been around these parts, but wanted to seeks some advice and comments...

We're working on a short about Zombies and finally got our teaser together. We'd love some input. We'd also love to have some new youtube comments or myspace friends (LOL).

Our promo site: www.zombieambiance.com (high quality teaser is there)
on youbue: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0QyRrzmMAHg
on myspace: www.zombieambiance.com/myspace

Also, what do you find the best settings for converting a 16:9 quicktime for YouTube? I really struggled with finding the right conversion where the film didn't end up squished and we ended up settling on the one that's up now, which isn't the best quality and there's some digital noise in the sound. I'd love to here how the more experienced guys are doing it.

Thanks! Hope you enjoy! Was all shot with the DVX100a

i always love me some amatuer zombie movies. some advice, for what it is, the teaser was good. but its a teaser. id approach this two ways. id take out the whole part with the music. id make the opening shot a little longer before you add the quick cuts. after the quick cuts, id go straight for the title. then the ending part with the zombie on the ground with ending titles. another way, id have the opening shot without the quick cuts. take out the sound effects and add a nice ambience effect. windchime, maybe a quiet neighborhood, dog barking. then id go straight for the title followed by the zombie on the ground

I liked it, one minor idea: At the end when the zombie is crawling on the ground I really expected a jump cut to a quick shot of the zombie right in front of the camera with an audio cue. Sort of like one last scare, it seemed like that would also fit with the entire style of the teaser.

I agree less zombies and more foreboding. The zombies don't look all that scary so use what you have to draw people in.

I'd also say that you may want to lower the contrast a bit on your CC. I don't know if it was simply too much direct sunlight and you worked with what you had but the, even though I love high contrast, some of the shots go a bit too far for my taste. It looks too much like amateur video.
