(Trying to get this poll function to work...trying again...please delete other thread.)

I'm finding I never watch scheduled TV dramas anymore. I'll watch series on DVD. And I'll watch movies on DVD. But other than news, I don't even tune in to network television as delivered to my TV box.

Everyone says things are changing, but I'm curious if others have changed their viewing as much as I have. And so please participate in this poll!

I have a few shows that I watch on TV (mainly in reruns/syndication). Otherwise, if there's a show I really dig, I'll pick up the seasons on DVD.

well i dont really watch any tv... unless im really bored. but in my dorm room i dont have cable anyway, and at home, there tends to never be anything on. dvds with the friends, thats about it.

This poll has a massive flaw designed in it.

Personally when it comes to 'normal' (ie: non storting) television I only watch 3 hours of TV a week... but I never catch it live or download... I DVR. I think this is the way most people are moving, they record and watch at their own pace and time frame.

That being said, I watch a ton of TV a week. More than 24 hours easily (if you figure that each Yankee game is a min. of 3 hours and they don't have an off day and then the batting practice, pregame, and post game wrap up... YES is a great network), but even then, I will record if I am not going to be in front of the TV to watch a game.

You're right. DVR should have been part of the equation. Oops. Guess I sort of just consider DVR as "watching scheduled network TV" even though you do get to watch it when you want. But flawed, I agree.

I guess for me the biggest question is how much have we all drifted away from the content that traditional TV has been feeding us through the years. And DVR is still your regular helping of Friends, 24 and Sopranos, etc. I just find I'm watching more independent content, and less network TV in any form.

Anything I watch on network / free commercial TV is DVR only. If it is HBO or TCM I'll watch what is on when it is on unless I DVR it because of scheduling conflicts.

All movies come from Netflix or through Netflix streaming.

I never watch tv. it makes me sad. movies come from netflix (average of 8 a week) and the library (3 a week).

As far as TV goes...

I don't watch the news cuz it's depressing. Today's sit-coms are rehashes of stuff I watched 15-20 years ago. TV Drama series aren't bad, but I don't have the time or effort needed to get involved.

If I don't have any interesting movies to watch, I'll typically just sit and watch Discovery.

Netflix and bought DVD's some shows are downloaded, mostly DVD. I would record but we don't have cable and reception is not great so... I have found that not watching network TV for a number of years I have zero tolerance for ad's. Very ironic since a fair chunk of my income usually comes from doing post on them.

it all goes to the DVR and at the end of the day (somewhere between 9pm and 1am) I am usually watching The Daily Show/Colbert and some form of reality tv -- top chef, survivor, etc.

my netflix account is being neglected. most of the movies I watch on DVD are imports so I have to buy them if I want to see them.

I don't think DVR is changing the shape of network television as much as Netflix/downloading has/will. DVR has probably been a stop-gap measure. Definitely useful for folks who love network content. I don't want to have to do programming though.

I watch the major shows online, since i don't have a DVR and I hate commercials. 30 seconds is better than 4min. Plus, I have my laptop with me all the time. So convenient. I also use On Demand all the time. HBO On Demand is great. And a lot of the stations are getting an On Demand thing too.

T.V: Sitcoms, the History Channel, the Actors Studio, and I guess a few animation series for kids, just to see what the standards are.

It's impossible to watch a movie on TV. Too many interruptions, I get insulted.
The exception is on specialty channels (like PBS) with foreign movies where there's only one commercial break.

I don't even have a TV. I play downloads/DVDs off my laptop using Apple's Front Row or DVD player, hooked up to my larger external monitor, and use the apple remote that came with the laptop, with sound plugged into my bigger speakers.

Everything goes thru the DVR, now...

CNN, LinkTV, History Channel, FoodTV, Discovery Channel, six flavors of HBO, five sorts of Cinemax, some number of stripes of Showtime, PBS, National Geo Channel, two or three shows on NBC and Fox...

...I'm starting to suspect that we watch too much TV.

I watch Law and Order/American Chopper re-runs on TV and I watch The Closer when its season is running. Other then that, I buy series I like and watch them on DVD. I have recently started watching shorted 1/2 hour shows (american dad, the office) on Hulu.com, which I really like.

When Netflix has more TV variety on their online catalog I will move over there for good. The quality is really quite stunning for how quickly it streams.

i watch shows and movies on my tv. the only thing i watch online are short videos.

DVR is second in line behind DVXUser in the list of reasons I barely watch TV anymore. I spend so much of my time here, I can't watch TV and so I would start recording programs with such ease that I didn't realize how many freaking episodes of LOST (and a host of other shows) had stacked up and I finally lost interest and deleted them. Now there are just a few things I watch on TV, and not very regularly I might add.
