Advice on Purchasing a Carrion Monitor

Hello,

After researching the Panasonic LH80 and Carrion monitors, I decided to purchase the Carrion based mostly on how I would power them and the cost of getting an SDI input. However, two emails to LS Designs have gone unanswered which makes me concerned that they wouldn't meet their projected shipping dates.

Anyone purchased a Carrion recently? Does LS Design meet their 4-5 week shipping date or is that a fiction? I am shooting a job this summer that is all outdoor work, and my Marshall is difficult, at best, to use in the bright conditions.

I received mine in about that time frame. So it's for real! However, I might sell mine because I just purchased a RED LCD and I'm not really using the Carrion any longer.
 
What model do you have and what's your price and time frame for selling?

I rec'd mine in a slightly longer time frame because of some changes that were very worthwhile. It was still here when Luis said it would be, however.

I know Luis (Siniarch) also has other work to do so occassionaly it may take a few days for him to get back, but he always did; plus I had a very nice phone call from him when he was doing some upgrades to units about to ship that put a slight delay in. The monitor is awesome, not "just for the money" but works and looks great. Build quality is top notch. I live in fear that I will forget it now on a shoot (I left it behind once and it was sorely missed!).

Thanks for the info about purchasing a Carrion.

How is the Carrion in bright sun? Still viewable? Is the monitor sharp enough to focus easily without using the pixel zoom or do you think the Panasonic red focus aid is needed to focus accurately? I am going to be replacing a Marshall.

I've been awaiting an e-mail response from Luis as well - ordered the monitor around a month ago and haven't heard anything yet in the way of a shipping estimate. I sent e-mails both through the LSdsgn site and a DVXuser PM on about 5/16... Of course I see he's still logging in and posting here, so I'm not worried that he's disappeared and I'm confident I'll receive the monitor at some point, but a reply would be nice.
 
FYI - I rec'd an email from Luis (after I had emailed him about slow response here) and he apologized and said he had been swamped. Not the reply any one wants, but I think his attitude is to stay focused on getting monitors together and out the door as well as keeping up his day job. All I can say is I know mine came even though I had some slow email responses from Luis and was worried too.

At some point if he continues to succeed, I'm sure Luis will get help with customer service. But for now, he's one guy working with twelve hands. I can only say after speaking with him and seeing the quality of the monitor that I'm sure he's a stand up guy. I thik you'll be very pleased.

Let's hope you hear from him soon to ease your mind!

Luis does a great job of balancing other work with building his monitors. He has been super busy the last couple of weeks with TimeFest, Corrado and his monitors. Luis is very conscientious about his delivery schedule, as was evidenced when he passed up great opportunities to visit industry connections with the Fat Monster crew to build monitors for which he had orders. Certainly, things come up that cannot be avoided, but let me say, Carrion is real and from what I've seen is a great monitor. Hang in there, he's doing EVERYTHING possible to keep the customer satisfied.

Man, I feel awful about the delays. Truth be told, I agreed to help some friends on their projects at times that I should have been building monitors. I apologize for that. I always try to please people and have a hard time saying no to my friends when they are in need.
I am back in the swing of things and catching up on my orders. Everyone should be getting their units soon, so please hold on tight and forgive me for any delays. :)

I've emailed Luis twice and no response....it's been weeks now. I work for a huge corporation and I'm ready to buy in a heartbeat, it looks like a really good product...too bad...I can't wait.... I'll have to take my business elsewhere.
