I had a greenscreen shoot a week or so back, and can report that using the EX1 was a very positive experience. We shot 1080p for use in a 720 motion graphics piece. While a bit of artifacting round the edges is detectable, both keylight and primatte were pulling nice keys and, with a bit of resolution to throw away, it really didn't matter. For a 1080p broadcast piece I might consider SDI capture, but it adds one more thing to worry about on the day.
I have used a varicam in the past for a similar job, and I would say the EX1 scored on many fronts: Apart from the extra resolution, the fact that we could have a designer on set with a MacBookPro, ingesting the footage, testing keys, dropping clips into predesigned comps to check we had lined things up correctly etc, reduced stress considerably.
It is definitely worth using your own camera for this sort of job, so you can really understand and control what is going on, and in this price range, I haven't seen any evidence that there are any other options that are serious contenders.
