Uncontacted Indian Tribe Discovered - Fascinating

I also found it interesting... we should give them cell phones, McDonald's and TVs!!!

Then we make a reality show about them as they are getting dumb and fat and later on die from obesity!!!

Or put them in cages!!!

hehehe... no! I am totally kiddin' hehe... I swear

but seriously, I betcha they are healthier than the average American!

I got the impression that they were NOT uncontacted in that they were undiscovered and had never had contact with "modern" civilization, but that they had been discovered, but like other tribes in that region in particular, they are left alone as they are boxed into a protected area...

Apparently illegal logging is pushing some of these "uncontacted" tribes into a potential conflict with other tribes.

They said that there are some 100 uncontacted tribes and that most of them are in brazil and peru (?)

In a way, it's kinda like "The Village" :)

Folks know about them, and they probably know about us to some extent, but again... they are in a protected area and are left alone to continue on with their lives in their box for better or worse, save the occasional encounter with mysterious flying objects, and/or giant saws crawling through the forest eating trees.

Later,
Jason

There's a perfectly vicious argument running on another site I frequent, over whether to make contact, or just leave them alone.

lol. joking aside, i assume the majority opinion is that we should just leave them alone.

In hunter gathering society the work week averaged a total of 9 - 12 hours with labor split according to gender.

Compare the 9 - 12 hour work week with our current 40 - 60 and ask what all of our modern "advances" have gotten us.

On the surface, it has its appeal -- but 9-12 hours per week won't support a society wherein we get to make movies.

Yes. But each village would have it's own Speilberg making costumes out of thatched leaves and coordinating things for the bonfire premiere of their latest opus ... or some other such outlet.

So rather than hundreds of thousands of us competing for a few opportunities in Hollywood, there would be a more even ration of those that had the drive vs. amount of opportunity. Granted the expression would be in front of tens of people vs. millions, but I think if that's all you knew it would be equally as fulfilling.

So again, I would say technology complicates having a career in the entertainment industry.

Granted we are able to fight back better now that we have the DVX, HVX, RED, and soon 170 and Scarlett, but we're combatting a problem created by the technology to mass deliver entertainment, which creates more opportunities for the entertained and less for the entertainer ... as opposed to the very small society.

Bear in mind that people living the forest-tribe life, frequently don't make it much past their mid-twenties or thirties.

So everything you make would have to have youth-market appeal.

Well, if all you're looking for is a low-budget "career in the entertainment industry," why not just busk in subway stations? You'd have your 9-12 hours a week and a lifestyle (and lifespan) to rival theirs. :)

Oh, you mean like guns and ipods?
--works for me.
