dvx100 24p standard footage... do I edit at 23.97 or 29.97 project?

24pstandard is 29.97 and for film its usually supposed to be 24pa so i dont know what to do about that.

anyone know? The best way to shoot for both outputs in mind - to Broadcast on TV as well as to show on film.

thanks,

JM

Avid will capture both advanced and standard over FireWire. Work in a NTSC 23.976 project and go to the Film/24p settings and set pulldown cadence to NORMAL or STANDARD (I can't remember the wording right now).

I captured all my footage onto a 23.97fps avid project, and I am still not 100% sure if that is best for my situation, because I know 100% it's going to be for TV broadcast but just a possibility it will be for film as well.

I shot on 24p standard mode for dvx100, so if I understand correct, the film/24p setting on avid should be "standard" pulldown 2:3:2:3 which I checked and it is. On another thread I did mention they had other film settings that doesn't seem to pertain to me, I guess I just leave that alone?

You told me to have the thing set to pulldown on "A" frame. But I did not have that box ticked when I captured my video. And you mentioned this as one of the solutions to remove the stuttering effect when exported to .MOV on another thread. So not having the "A" frame ticked would be a problem for all my footage that I just captured? Would I have to recapture from scratch?

Also, is 23.976 for 24p standard? And 24fps for 24p Advanced?

I had tried capturing my 24p standard footage into a 24fps Avid Project but it would not let me, it said there was something wrong with the pulldown. So I captured inside a 23.976 project instead and it worked fine.

Thanks again,

JM

also, as was pointed out by neener... film transfer is usually 24p advanced. I shot on 24p standard. Is that going to be an issue? Harder to transfer or what?

Thanks again,

JM
