Anybody used the Geardear mattebox?

Formatt FM600 plus a few other tidbits that I've been wanting, a slate, new eyecup, LCD hood and a short XLR cable so I dont have to haul around my 20 footer wherever I go. I'm looking for filters now, good gawd they are expensive!

That package looks suspiciously like it is comprised of the Indian makers products (cinecity??). Can't say for sure.
 
Yeah, theres the other one that is made in india, its pretty much jsut a lens shade with a french flag.


Anybody else who reads this:

I NEED A 72MM STEPDOWN FOR THE FORMATT FM600!!! if you have one and want to sell it to me, let me know how much you want and we'll talk some figures.

even tho the box isnt on the cam yet it looks pretty dopetasticle. the finish could be a bit better but its light and looks BA.

What type of step down ring do you need? I work for Cavision and might be able to help you out, we've got a bunch of different step down rings. Is the ring you need specific only to the Formatt box?

I dont know, i need one that goes from an 82mm to a 72mm, I *think*. Here is the formatt one on B&H, i think its universal for the DVX mount I am just not sure what size the hole in the mattebox is :-P.

Any help appreciated.

Our AR82-72 - 15.00 USD - ring has 72mm outside thread and 82mm inside thread, the actual outside diameter is 85mm. - http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/con...alSearch=yes&O=product.jsp&A=search&Q=*&bhs=t - The AR82-72 should work, but I'm not 100% familar with Formatt's box. Do you know what the inside diameter of the matte box is? 100mm or 85mm?
 
Dory, I've never tested it, but both the rings look very similar, may want to get a definite answer from someone that has a Formatt box. Just thought might be able to save you a little bit of cash.

Thanks man. I just looked, and I think that it's pretty specific. I measured the inside of the box and its like, 88.9 mm. Also, theres a 82mm adapter ring for the FM600, so that makes me think it needs to be the formatt one. Which sucks cause its like, 30 bucks.

I just got the mattebox and rails. They didn't come out with the FF kit until relatively recently.

The mattbox is ok. The finish could be smoother, but that's looks, not functionality. The filter holders themselves look like they were made from a rough mold, though. I'd like to get some "real" ones, eventually.

If I hadn't been bleeding money the past few months, I probably would have sprung for the FF, but that's on the backburner for now. And the foreseeable future. The dentist wants $8000, so...camera stuff isn't a priority.

Not mention the Pampers and D-cell batteries.
