Hey all,

I made this film with a small team for the University of Washington 24 hour film contest. It turned out pretty well given our time constraints, and very few people in our crew had much experience. There's always things you wish you could change or done differently, but anyhow. Check it out, give feedback.

PS, There 1 or 2 very awkward cuts and I'm fully aware of them. We didn't exactly have time for a reshoot, so ya.

What did you think about the 24hr film festival? It's hitting Portland in a month and I was tempted to give it a shot. Seems kinda brutal, though.

Its soo much fun, you just have to have a team ready in advance.
Here's a basic timeline of how it went down.

12:00 Noon: We received our "required elements" and we talked conceptually about how we could piece these ideas together into a story.
12:45 We found an idea that stuck and started writing.
3:30 We finished writing, packed up and started filming.
7:00 Dinner break.
10:00 Finished filming
10:30 Began our upload but had serious technical difficulties.
12:00 Midnight, Began editing. We edited on only one computer, but we had another computer working on the music.
4:20 Quick break : )
6:00 Finished editing and began the export. Lots of problems with aspect ratio, re-exported several times.
9:00 Finished the DVD burn. and then a quick nap
11:30 Walked to the rendezvous point to submit our movie.

The things that helped the most is that we had 3 people doing the writing, and the same main 3 people "co-directing" sort of. We were able to keep each other in check to avoid continuity errors and filming went smoothly.

We filmed with one camera which was very easy for editing, and we used a similar filming structure for each location. basically an establishing shot, and then the close-ups of each character. given that certain parts were more complicated such as the beginning library sequence.

Anyways, its really fun and it really puts your 'guerrilla filmmaking" to the test. It forces you to be resourceful and creative on a more or less level playing field.
