SYNOPSIS
Alin Druthers is lonely. He collects back issues of “Reader’s Digest”, stocks his closet full of unused light bulbs, and hasn’t had a steak dinner in ten years. Charley is a broken hearted Polish immigrant turned call-girl. She yearns for her ex-boyfriend, avoids the daylight in her windowless basement apartment, and chain smokes the night away. Together they form an unlikely bond built on the nostalgia of the past with the desire to enjoy the present. Happy Birthday Rita is a wryly comedic, melancholic story that follows a pair of unlikely friends on their path to moving forward.

Filmed on location in New York City from May 19-June 24. More on that later...

ha ha, I was waiting to hear what happened with this.

That b ball court in "pork slope" is about a mile from my place. And calling 4th Ave "Park Slope" is pushing it, BTW.

hey mark. we're up and running over here. should be a very interesting project if it all comes together in the next few weeks. we should meet up one of these days if you're not too busy. you don't call pork slope pork slope? sloooppperrssss

how did everything go in minneapolis for your shoot?

Also, what are you shooting on for the may 10th rehearsals. The shots of the girl on the couch look great.

we are shooting on ex1 and lex. first few days were fun. can't wait to really dig in. here are a few stills from day 1&2. I could really use an hd monitor!
