Doing a ride along with police officers...

Call your local police station and ask them.

Exactly. Some departments are more accommodating than others. I've done a few, but I used to be the Tae Kwon Do instructor for a good percentage of the department, so I had an in.

I think they are required to offer this. I could be wrong, but a call to the desk sargeant will give you the answer to your question one way or the other.

I've done a few ride-alongs. Watch out on those domestic calls. Yikes.

is there anyway to do a ride along with detectives? that's the movie i'm going for, and i'd like to learn the ins and outs, and the lingo, and the real procedures. NOT the law and order procedure.

Just go in and ask - the worst they can say is no, unless of course you ended up having a warrant for your arrest. In my field I work with the Police - mosty with Homicide so I have been lucky to be able to get them to help out on my films.

And they're driving Holden Commodores - true blue Aussie cars, the Pontiac G8 is a rebadged version of the two-door Commodore model the Monaro.

I got denied. I guess Orlando doesn't have a ride along program

I'll be in Orlando on Sunday and Monday. Presentation on Monday morning and then a facilities tour at Universal, then back out again.

If I get a riding "tour" in one of Orlando's finest's vehicles (typically due to shenanigans), I'll issue a full report.
