I was looking through a magizine that i get, and in the back was an advert for fresnels starting at $239, and a 3 light HMI kit for $899. So i went ot their web site, and everything looks legit, but I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with Image West? and what are your thoughts?

Image West:

(And 3 point lighting kits ranging from $699 - $999)

Some of these units look very similar to what Cool Lights will be offering soon- and some of the advertizing that this company has meantions their "Bluline" series lights, and their "Cool" lighting florescent lights.

Any input, or experience that you have had with the company, or lights would be very much appreciated.

If you do a search for blue line or image west you'll get a ton of information on them. Aram used them recently and reported his experience. I'd hold off on anything "hmi" until Ricard "Cool as a mutha-%^&*ing autumn breeze Lights" Andrewski releases his. They'll be in the expected flavors...chocalate par, vanilla fresnel and loads more useful. If you want to know about their "hmi's" do a search for Alzo, they actually manufacture the light image west sells.

peace and chicken grease

Greg said it. The Imagewest units are the Alzo ones and a lot of information has been posted about it here. It's just a 150w open face metal halide floodlight. No focus control. If that's what you want then you can go for it now, otherwise, good things come to those that wait.

Great, thanks for the info! I'll be looking more into these, as well as waiting with anticipation for what Cool Lights is able to come out with and deliver. Right now I rent the lights I use, as it is more afforable that way. But if Cool Lights is able to offer similar quality, at prices that are in the same ball park - then it would make owning much more appealing. :)

Thats the goal. Its kind of silly when the price of a product creates a rental market for it is my opinion. We want to make it attractive to own an HMI and not have to buy it used.

Sorry to post in an old thread. But i'm also looking to purchase the blulines.

It says on the website 'Spot & Flood Focusable"
Is there something I should know that they are not saying?

what he means is all you can do is basically throw a softbox on there, you cant really control the light like a fresnels.

Richard,

I have become a big fan of your work. The one thing I think your lights lack that imagewest has is prom dates. In the future please try to remember, less pertinent information on your website and more prom dates. Seriously though, keep up the good work.

hehe. ;-) Thanks for the kind words and thoughts.

But I feel a bit like Arnold Schwartznegger did at the end of T2 when he said "I need a vacation." We hardly ever have a chance to stop these days and it still doesn't move quick enough to get things done in the timeframe I want.

"I need a vacation." That's hero talk....lol
Yo Richard, I crushed my eggcrate for my 4 bank. 455EGG-- Can I get one one for the same price as when you order it with the lights, as opposed to an extra accessory ??

Affordable yes, but terrible CHinese manufacturing and the worst customer service I have ever encountered makes them a company I would never buy from again, at any price!
