"Berlin" - A Norm Sanders Film - DVD NOW AVAILABLE

You SO botched those lines, Barry! But close, you did get the spirit of it. :) Haven't seen much of Dahopa around here lately, speaking of which.

Funny stuff too guys, especially Mark's comment, lol.

Oh, and Shawn, thanks for the kudos on the stuff ... especially since you have to acknowledge that it's all coming from a PC, and Sony Vegas/DVD Architect at that!

Somone asked a while back if I'd be submitting BERLIN to the "Action/Cut Short Film Festival". I'm submitting festival copies out today, and just saw this thing is $70 dollars to submit to! That's as much as it is to submit to Cannes!

My gut says no on this one ... I'm all about best bang for the buck, and this one doesn't seem to be cutting it at first glance.

Actually Norm, I think it was Matt asking about the "AOF" Fest...

www.aoffest.com

He and I have had films there for a few years now... pretty good fest, and this year they've moved to an even nicer venue in Pasadena, CA... "Welcome to the Party" and most likely "No Greater Love" will be "premiering" there this summer.

Thanks, Brandon ... just checked out that fest, and it's half the cost, and seems to have some cool incentives. Submitting to it now. :)

BTW, it did say that the minimum short run time was 10 minutes (according to WAB), so are those two shorts of yours extended versions?

I remember this film from SpyFest and didn't think that after its initial cancellation that, regardless of good intentions, it would ever make it into production. I'm glad that it did--can't wait to see it! Let me know when I can pre-order.

Thanks, John. :) This film has taken longer to get to DVD than I'd hoped, but I'm one to try & always follow through on what I set out to do, so BERLIN was certainly something I wanted to follow up on ... it just wasn't the right timing during SpyFest.

I'm busting my hump trying to teach myself the HTML code, trying to figure out all the FLASH stuff, Paypal ordering, etc., but you can see the TRAILER's page at least at the following (rest of the site is still under construction):

WTTP will be a "short short"

And No Greater Love is just over two hours long, so that'll be in the feature category

Of course No Greater Love is a feature ... my bad for forgetting, sorry. :) I loved the BTS you had on it. Didn't see the option for short shorts, but cool nonetheless.

Just submitted to 12 fests today, shipping them out Monday, $300+ later in fees. Looks like I missed out on Cannes, which I'm incredibly bummed about. Not sure where I had it in my head that the deadline was 4/30/08 ... emailed for a possible waiver, so we'll see. So much for adding the French subtitles, lol!

No prob.

Well yeah, they accepted it, so I guess there's a short short category...lol.

Anyways, that stinks about Cannes :( Where else did you submit?

(If you get into AOF, you gotta come down for it, so I can finally meet ya!)

SUBMITTED FESTIVALS:

  1. Heartland Film Festival
  2. Hermosa Shorts
  3. SoCal Independent Film Festival
  4. Big Bear Lake International Film Festival
  5. Raindance Film Festival (UK)
  6. Route 66 Film Festival
  7. Chicago International Film Festival
  8. St. Louis International Film Festival
  9. Real to Reel Film & Video Festival
  10. BendFilm Festival
  11. Action On Film International Film Festival
I guess I only submitted to 11 today. There was a 12th on my list, but I weighed the ROI on that one compared to some of the others & scratched it. Still ran $307 just for those, not to mention shipping, packaging, etc. Any fest I submitted to either needed to have some good history to it, as well as some notariety, and/or also had to have a competition aspect to it.

I avoided any & all festivals that were simply for the audience viewing pleasure, and didn't have any kind of ranking/award catagory to it.

Jeremy should have final Graphics to me tomorrow, and I reviewed the master DVD today. My wife actually caught something in the VERY end credits; I spelled one of my neighbor's last names incorrectly! So, I've fixed it, and now need to re-render the film. It's an important fix, however, because it was specifically due to their feedback that I altered the beginning of the film, improving the story, etc. Better to find & fix it now, however, than after I've got 1,000 copies on hand!

Still working on the site ... revamped some of the design/buttons, as it was brought to my attention the overuse of the swastika ... I want to be sensitive to certain groups that would find it offensive, and was glad that point was brought up.

Jeremy, it's not coming through. I saw it on the server, tried to access it through pop3, and it appeared the message was too big, or at least had an error. Tried to download it with Outlook, then nothing was there.

Sorry .... can you resend? Perhaps upload to a server, or I can set up FTP for you, if needed?

Wow, awesome Norm! I'll be attending the Bend Film Festival this year, so I hope to see Berlin there! Having gone to it a few times in the past, I know they LOVE it if the director attends his/her film and fields questions afterward. Yeah, they give you like 15-30 minutes to talk and answer questions for everyone. It's really cool.

Good luck! When do we get to see the DVD? :D

Thanks, Neil & Ken. I'm visciously working on finishing the last of the website up now, but need to get the payment thing going with Mr. Land before I can officially announce the website, acceptance of DVD orders, etc.

I've had a LOT hit me in the last several weeks, the latest of which was a family tragedy that took me back a few paces. Just now getting back into the swing to finish up, only to have to leave tomorrow morning on a trip my wife & I have had planned for quite some time. Whew!

Anyway, the master is at Discmakers now, and all proofs look good except one I hope to approve tomorrow AM. Then replication is underway and discs will be back ready to ship when I return from the trip. I'll also announce the cast & crew party, screening, etc once the discs are in hand.

That sounds GREAT about the Bend Film festival ... hopefully it gets accepted. It's certainly the strongest work I've been able to be a part of yet, so I hope it does, but never know what else is being submitted, how much room they've got, etc. I am, however, pretty proud of the total BERLIN package, and think everyone else that's been a part of it will be as well.
