Iron Man footage

Do we really need another Superhero movie ?
Buddy, I've been waiting a lot of years to see my favorite comics come to life. The best part of it is, I can now enjoy them with my own kids. They don't care much about finer plot points like a self absorbed film critic trying to impress the masses. As long as it entertains, that is the bottom line. And having read the original stories, I'm really impressed that Favreu not only didn't butcher it, but put in the characters and details from the original source the average viewer wouldn't notice.

How can it be entertaining if you can almost already know the story line in advanced ? Nobody is asking anybody to go watch a movie with a pen and a notepad. I thought film or movie is a story telling medium and not just the grandeur display of CGI

At least, a good movie is something that leaves an emotion on the audience, may it be happiness, sadness or whatever which none of these hollywood big budget summer crap is going to offer. Then again I guess some people can be amazed and awed by just looking at something get blown up or some rotoscoping.

As for me I am skipping spiderman 7 and xmen 9. Thanks but NO Thanks.

I guess you don't read many books. Haven't you ever read a book only to see the movie afterwards? Same thing here.

There are many novels that have been turned into films. Why is this any different?
Iron Man was obviously not your cup of tea.
I thought it was entertaining as hell. Actually... some of the suit testing was the funniest stuff I've seen in any superhero movie. As well as the way that Stark spoke to all of the robotic devices around him.

If you don't like superhero movies then you're right. You probably won't like this superhero movie, but isn't that a given?

Just saw Iron Man. I liked it but I thought it was slow. It could of used more build up and suspense. Now I really did like it that the true villain didn't present himself until much later in the film, towards the end.

I stayed until after the credits. WTF? Samuel L. Jackson is in another movie?! That man must have no social life.

It did evoke an emotion: Happiness. And that happiness equates to about 200million on release weekend.

I'm just sayin', I hope that I can make something this bad-ass one day. Classic storytelling.

this is the first time that I see a superhero movie and come out of the theater satisfied, I mean wow, this is how superhero movies should be done, that guy from swingers is a great director, just proved it, I love the guy from back in swingers and very bad things, when I learned that he directed ironman I just could not believe it, what a radical change, from shoesting swingers budget to a 200 million irionman budget and 200 million opening weekend, well deserved he did a great job, didnt care about the last quarter of the movie, kinda dragged and expected, did notice a lot of linejumps in the cinematography but hey its a movie that you go and have some fun and dont worry about these things, great movie, notice I did not say great "film" hahha :)

Almost any movie you watch, you can already guess the outcome just from the commercials, so why bother to watch any at all? As far as cgi, it is a necessary evil. People can't fly in the real world, cars can't jump from building to building, and no matter how good a prop maker is, he can't make a robot that will turn into a truck. So unless you only want to watch romances, dramas, or biographies, you need cgi.

However, as you point out, several film makers will use fantastic cgi in place of a decent story element, as if the two are interchangeable. IT IS NOT. It is only a tool to fill in the visuals that can't be done as a practical shot with realism. The Hulk is a perfect example. I know a lot of folks didn't like the film because of it. I didn't like the TV series because a semi buffed body builder in green paint was NOT the Hulk. He did not leap and fly through the air, and he did not throw tanks, he was not even a reasonable substitute.

I loved it. Entertaining as hell, well cast and well acted, great action, great dialogue. One of my favorite scenes was where Tony has Pepper change out his battery heart, the metaphor inherent in the scene was pretty nice.

Honestly though I think where this movie really shines is in the score. Ramin Djwadi is my personal favorite composer working right now in terms of new talent. He also composed the Prison Break score, a show I probably wouldn't have watched if it weren't for how incredibly hype the score was. He brought the hype for Iron Man and he injected the rock. And it was good.

LOVED Iron Man... cannot WAIT to see it again (when it comes out on Blu Ray) this is a good summer for movies! and it started out GREAT!

That was one of the scenes I couldn't buy. I don't care how good that armor is, just the impact of a fighter jet would seriously hurt you, if it didn't kill you outright.

LOL...well...if his suit was strong enough to catch an SUV with a small family inside of it.....then I would think the wing of a fighter jet at that speed would snap like a bundle of sticks......I'm just saying....lol

I agree, the movie would have really sucked if the Protagonist was killed in the first half, but even if the armor survived, it would be like shaking a raw egg in the shell. You shake it hard enough, and you'll scramble the insides. Same goes for the high speed impacts from a crash landing. Just saying is all... :)
