Hey everyone,

I'm working on my new reel and would love some feedback.

Is it too long, too slow, too much from one movie, or not enough - etc?

Most of my work is HVX-200, Varricam SDX-900 or HDX-900. The X-mas stuff is Red One and there is a few blurry shots of a 16mm film that I haven't gotten scanned in at 2k yet.

Please let me know if there's any shots your love or hate, and any other comments you have.

Thank you in advance,

- Greg

Demo Reel 480P - 55MB

Demo Reel 240P - 29MB

Only a few seconds through but this stuff looks REALLY good man. can you do a shot by shot or section by section camera break down?

Nice.

those were incredible, and the content were interested, now just visually pleasing but also a lot of action. dope.

Thanks everyone!

Sure,

4Life (Taxi cab commercial ) - Varicam

IGBNOBLE ( The winter fantasy short) - SDX 900

PLEASANT GROVE (boy and cop ) - 16mm

ANTHEMS OF WAR (WWII short) - HDX 900
( There are three shots in that sequence of a young German with a rifle, those were from another short I did shot on stock HVX-200)

TIME AGAIN - LINES ARE FADED ( punk music video ) - HVX200 w/ Letus Extreme

T'WAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS - RED ONE

ANTHEMS OF WAR (again)

BLACKCELL MINI-TRILOGY (paintball) - HVX200 w/ original ghetto Letus

T'WAS THE NIGHT (again)

If you want to know anything about lighting or lenses I think I can remember most of what was used.

Thanks for the interest!

Keep the comments and critiques coming please!

first shots are really good... Varicam with Pro 35? why the dip to black between the first taxi shot and the next one....

Didn't like the music but on second viewing it felt that you used it well...

what aspect raito was the Chrimass red stuff? I didn't mind it at all that you mixed the ratio...

montages are hard... why did you go back to the x-mas stuff at the end?

Hey Vincent, thanks for the comments.
No there was no Pro 35. That's just a Varicam with a Fujinon lens. I dipped to black because a cut was very jarring, there's about 20 seconds I cut out from in between those two shots. No one has mentioned it before, did it bug you, or are you just asking? I'll take another look at it, thanks.

Sorry you didn't dig the music, it's really hard to please everyone, I always try to use something that is cool but not a radio hit.

The Red shoots native 2:1, we shot it at 4k res, so I just quickly output it to 1080P did a quick color and dropped it into a 720p sequence to match all the HVX and HDX footage. I could have easily re-framed the image, but we shot it with 2:1 in mind so it looked kinda funky when I cropped it 16:9.

I went back to the x-mas stuff and the end because for one, that scene fit well, and two he waves goodbye,.. kinda cheesy but whatever.

I've been struggling with do I just show clips from each movie in order, or do I mix match them all. My last reel had all the different projects grouped together. In this reel I broke away from that a little and revisited some stuff. Let me know if you find that tacky. A friend told me way too much War and X-mas stuff,.. so I have that on the check list already.

Thanks for the critique! I love it!

I thought the ghetto letus paint ball stuff was really cool. It had a real raw grungy feel and look to it. I loved all your stuff, very good work.

hey man, thought your reel was great. Its crazy because i've seen the Blackcell shorts a few months ago and thought they were great.

I love San Diego!

Thanks BPatterson! Those Blackcell videos were kinda viral, I was amazed! We just made them one day when we were bored at work. Someone uploaded them to youtube and they have like 300,000 views or something,.. crazy. Too bad it looks like crap on you tube.

Thanks everyone, please keep the comments coming!
