35mm adapter rig photos

Its the steadicam flyer, its the smallest of Tiffens professional steadicams. It will take cameras up to 7kg which is enough for an Arriflex SR3 or a DSR250 or something fairly big. It will also take the hvx/sgpro rig easily.

Its a nice rig, was about £6000 with the batteries and other bits and pieces that I needed and I have had great success with it.

We recently got a M2 as well as an Letus. We like the diversity of both the adaptors but prefer the letus for ease of set up and rugged build. My steadicam op freind dash posed with my steadicam for the shot (even though he complains my clipper 2 at 60 lbs is not heavy enough.) We will try putting the rig on his steadicam Ultra 2 next week. The rig flys very well with no vibrations in the post. We practiced all saturday with my 1st AC to pull focus at 1' DOF(Bartech+M-one motor). He promised to firebomb my house if I ever try to do that in real life (it is very unrealistic). Overall we are happy with the set up.

How do you get over the FX1's lack of proper audio inputs when filming mr rider?

well, I use that little senheisser shotgun mic because it sure beats the on camera mic and it does a decent job. If I ever need to shoot anything where audio is critical, I use my works HVX200 and their audio kit. I shoot a lot of eng style stuff so the little senheisser does the trick for now. A beachtek is also on my list of things to get.

I used the rode video mic on my FX1 a few times, and its actually pretty good. I shot this for MTV with my FX1 and rode video mic. Its for the turkish MTV channel and this is just a snippet of it, but you get the jist. Its also in turkish but you can still hear what he is saying. It was a really windy day too...

That´s a hell of a rig you got there Emre. I hope mine will look as cool when everything is bolted together.

That is correct, I have a bartech FF with the M-one motor. It's a very nice package as the M-one comes with all the gear ratios known to man included. For the Bartech you can have any cable custom built for your rig as well as start stop cables for Arri's. Hoarp, I was looking at what you were building (I might have missed the thread if you touched on this) but if your motor has the same torque as the m-one you have to build in start-stop end point calibration controls. The M-one will rip out any lens and pull it right out of its housing without the limiters. You might want to look into building the superlightweight cables just like the ones that steadicam makes so you can wire control your rig without upsetting its balance. Good luck with your project, I think you will provide a very elegant solution for low-budget situations.

Best,

Emre, a real one, quite sure same or close model to the one we used on "A Walk in the Dark" and "Snap" sure is a relief to use HVX's, shave a good 30 lbs.

.and an other rig.

(yeah, bad photos - I know)

I got 2 of those handy lens supports (last picture).
One goes into the LEX´s thread the other one is for large lenses.

2 of my Zeiss middleformat lenses got a thread for that reason.
For all other lenses the supports have 2 ball bearings or rolls.
It is not THAT tight with those bearings, but you can even support the part that is turning.

Here's some pictures of my M2 Rig.
Don't worry about the tripod haha. I realize it doesn't even come close to being enough support for this rig, but sadly, it's all I've got until I get some more money together...

Now I'm just waiting for my follow focus, and I'm debating whether or not to get the Hyson HD mattebox, or splurge and get the RR one... and a tripod of course. I'm going to go for the Libec LS-38.

btown that's awesome! You're doing it backwards, I've never seen anyone say "I could afford an ikan, hvx, m2, microx but I can't afford a tripod." Putting that all on a cheapie velbon gets you cool points just because.

Any details on your DIY monitor?

Haha, thanks Ecking, yeah I know the tripod is no good, but for now at least it gets the job done. I can still get pretty good pans as long as they're slow haha. The weight actually seems to help me get smoother pans out of it, it seems to pan smoother than when I just had my old Sony cam on there. I just need to crank it right down to keep it on there. Plus, this way I figure when I can afford a Libec I'll be blown away by how much better it is...
