ANNOUNCEMENT: DVXUser Monthly - Subscribe Here

Thanks to everyone for their interest.

I'm taking in a lot of contribution ideas and offers. That's great, please keep it up. I just want to let you know I'm responding to them as fast as I can, so if I don't get back to you right away please don't be discouraged.

Also, it's become easier at this point for me to handle these inquiries by email at editor@dvxmonthly.com instead of PMs. Please direct your correspondence there.

Thanks!

John

Also, when sending your queries, pitches, and ideas, please include your full contact information: name, phone, address, and email.

As mentioned before, dvxuser doesn't sell your personal information.

Thanks!

Yes, a very good idea.

I did list some articles of interest in my subscription:

-Especially articles about workflow issues with the new AVCHD and P2 formats with NLEs, the problems and how to solve them.

-How to make AVCHD faster to edit / best quality settings for fast work at this point.

-optimal best Panasonic compatible NLE set-ups in different budgets categories (like $1000 $2000, $3500, $5000 -professional etc.).

-Also very important is the question about the new tapeless workflows: how to manage and store all data / projects for future generations? Solutions and costs for more secure storage, if DVDs or consumer hard drives are not the final solution and printing to film is too expensive...

-Also a comparison article about the different prosumer / professional formats would be great: P2, AVCHD, XDCam, HDV, Red etc. in terms of video quality, post prodution (speed, issues, limitations, quality for heavy post: green screen etc.) and especially color correction, since in the future it will dictate more and more what formats people are choosing for their projects.

-In-depth Pana camera comparison tests with other camera brands would be appreciated, all the aspects about the new up-coming cameras: sensors, sound, issues, use in different situations, workflows etc.
Basically what readers want to know is whether the new Sony cam has +/-1 f-stop of difference in sensor sensitivity compared to new Pana:)

I know these issues are biased more towards the post production side, but I believe when choosing a camera these days, more and more one has to think about the post production side of things, especially with these new tapeless formats.

what karapetkov replied to, sorry for posting it..... You know after some hours of working you lose consciousness and you post thing were you don't have to

Mungia jendez bete zen “Bildumazaleen VI. Azokan”.

Urtero gertatzen den bezala, Antonio Lopez, “Bitxikiak” Mungiako bildumazaleen elkartearen zuzendaria, oso urduri zegoen azoka inauguratzeko 10 minutu falta zirenean. Izan ere, urte batean zehar prestakuntzak egiten egon ondoren azokaren eguna heltzeko irrikarekin zegoen.
Aurtengo edizio hau oso jendetsua izan zen, zifra ofizialek diotenez 10.000 pertsona baino gehiago hurbildu ziren Mungiara. Arantza del Valle. Bildumazaleak, eguraldi txarraren aurreikuspenen erruz jende asko etxean gelditu zela esan zuen.
Baina Mungiara bertaratu zenak eguraldi eguzkitsua aurkitu ahal izan zuten. Izan ere, asteburu osoan zehar eguzkiak indarrez jo zuen. Honi esker bertaratuek oso eroso bisitatu zituzten Mungian zehar zeuden erakusketa guztiak.
Mungian barrena hiru gune nagusi bereizi ziren, Andra Mari elizako karpa, bertan jende pila batek haien bildumak elkartrukatzen zituzten. Bigarrenik Mungiako foru enparantzan bi karpa ezarri ziren salerosketa egin ahal izateko. Erakusketei dagokienez, Mungiako frontoia, Agirre jauregia eta Torrebillela kultur etxean zehar banatuta zeuden.
Frontoian sortu bezain laster jendearen joan etorria izugarria zen. Bertan itzelezko bildumak aurkitu zitezkeen, koloretsuak, zaharrak, klasikoak, umeentzakoak edo oso bitxiak zirenak. Hauen artean Nieves Urbanejaren kanpaitxoen edo Alfredo Gonzalezen labanen bildumak ziren aipagarrienak.
Frontoitik oso pozik irten ondoren bisitariak Agirre jauregian zegoen munduko bolen erakusketa ikustera joaten ziren. Bertan Roberto Herbosa bisitariak esan zuenez “bilduma ikusgarri, koloretsua eta oso ondo azaldua da hau”. Izan ere, Monik, munduko bolen bildumazaleak, gidatutako bisita bat egiten zuen, bola guztien historia ezagutu ahal izateko.
Baina bildumazaleen azoka honetan erakusketak ez ziren garrantzitsuenak, izan ere, aurtengo edizio honetan trukea eta salerosketa garrantzia hartu dutela azaldu digu Cristina Mayorek, “Bitxikiak” bildumazaleen elkarteko kideak.
Hau baieztatzeko ez zen salerosketako gunera joan baino gehiago behar. Bertan jendearen joan etorria izugarria zen. Bertaratutakoen artean Zorione Bazterra, Ana Correa, Dani Espiga eta Javi Peña zeuden. Guzti hauek gauza bera esan zuten, bertan aurkitu ahal ziren materialak kalitate handikoak zirela.
Azkenik Andra Mari elizan zegoen trukaketa gunera jo beharra zegoen. Bertan sartu bezain laster 200 pertsona baino gehiago zenbatu zitezkeen, hauen artean, Miren Billelabeitia, euskarazko irakaslea, Jon Kortazar, idazle ezaguna, Begoña del Val, Xabier Salegi edo Marie Pierre eta bere Frantziako familia.
Azoka igandean, apirilak 13. Eguerdiko ordu bietan itxi egin zen, kritika oso onak jaso ondoren, izan ere, aurtengoa edizio erakargarria izan da, 60 bilduma baino gehiago, salerosketako 30 postu eta asteburu osoan zehar txistulariek eta trikitilariek girotu zuten urtero ospatzen den “Bildumazaleen VI. Azoka”.

We currently have about 1500 subscriptions so far, and they are still coming in pretty steadily. We've only announced intent to publish two weeks ago, so we are doing pretty great.

We'll update the subscriptions page and all that soon to include unsubscribe info., and news about the magazine and when you can expect the first edition, etc, etc, etc...

Later,
Jason

Just a quick note to let you know that things are coming along with the first issue. Writers are submitting their material and editing and layout is underway. Should be a very interesting premiere!

John

Very cool John. Another thanks to you and all those involved in doing this! I'm excited to have a DVXuser publication on my coffee table.

Yeah, I am sooo looking forward to reading my first DVXuser Monthly! I can only echo jdajda and say thanks alot for all your hard work! Keep it going, you are awesome! :)

Just subscribed. I can't remember if I had already subscribed earlier, if so, ignore the new one.

I can't wait to throw out all my Up3Dates off the table and stack 'em up. I bet you they will be a good investment like old Comics!!! He hehe...

We're working on it... Or, I should say John is working on it. I'm a bit behind on the backend and management end of things... trying to juggle a few too many things at the moment.

So, here's a piece of news for you folks.

I don't know that it will be a one or the other only at this point, hopefully the option will be yours, but...

We're probably going to be able to offer a pdf version for those who would like that instead from the first edition and on. If we can get the infrastructure in place in time. Due to the outrageous amount of subscribers and large proportion of int'l subscribers, it's also a cost consideration when talking about printing the large amount of copies we would have to print for a very first edition of a brand new (free) publication. Hopefully we can offer both, but details aren't hammered at this point. Just letting you know for those that were interested in a pdf version that it will likely be available from the get go, and we will hopefully have both options. We may send out some emails to those already subscribed and let them pick which one they want so we can figure out what kind of numbers we'll be looking at for each option.

Later,
Jason
