I had a moment of horror just now as I logged on and COULDN'T FIND THIS THREAD!!! Then I noticed it's become a sticky.

Phew...

Great move - now it'll be right there at the top, every day. Thanks!

The merits of one versus two camera shooting came up today in conversation with a friend - and I immediately thought of this thread.

You're shooting one camera on this, right?
Are you planning any two camera days?

Could you talk a bit about your thought process on that?

Just curious - because many seem to think two cameras are the way to go on tight schedules like this, whereas some people seem to think it's too much of a compromise and more trouble than its worth.

I'm curious to hear your thoughts on it.

the HPX3000 would be a good choice Adam, I know I told you about it on the phone but it's a great camera when used in the right settings. I'll shoot you an email with stills.

Yes guys, in deed I'm on second camera. It was going to be a 3-4day for the 2nd camera, but they have asked me to stay on, and I am honored to do so.

Ted,
That in fact is a Geardear Matte box. I don't recommend it. I bought it sight unseen. Just from looking at pictures and figured why not. I mean, it does its job for the most part, but if it was today, I'd save for a Redrock. Back then there weren't any professional looking units that were in my budget.

In fact, Brian Valente from Redrock was kind enough to put together a Matte box for this shoot from parts left over from NAB This is a Loaner just for the shoot, but I'm so thankful. I picked it up yesterday, and used it today. THANK YOU REDROCK and thank you Brian. It couldn't have come in at a better time. We shot at LAX and had to move quickly. (the previous days the grip dept. had to use some black wrap to compensate for the lack of flags of the Geardear)

Wow - A sticky. Very honored and humbled.

Sini is right, we are primarily a two camera shoot now. The Redrock matte box is amazing - it's what I should have bought. It makes the cavision I have look like a toy. Great work Redrock!!!!

We made our day today - 7 1/8 pages on location at LAX with a fight scene. Could've never done it without two cameras. And Luis!

Morale is high and we are forging ahead - only 7 days to go before wrap.

So far We've shot over 500GB of data at 1080 24PA. This is mainly due to the two cam thing.

Can't wait to see some more stills! How many P2 Cards does production have and what size?

Shooting 1080p was definitely the way to go! This is probably going to be the best feature film HVX200 + Adapter example to be projected. Lovin' it.

I think somewhere he said it was only a 14-17 day shoot, something like that.

By the way, I just discovered this thread today and spent the last 5 hours reading through it. Holy crap, what an amazingly inspirational story!

Good luck with the rest of shooting Adam!

Kholi,
For P2 cards, we have a 16gb, and (2) 8 gb, and (3) 4gb cards. For the most part Cam "B" has only been using (2) 4gb cards. So its been pretty tough. 4min takes. Every once in a while we have to use P2 cards from Cam "A". but we are changing this from now on. We are going to dedicate the (3) 4gb cards to cam "B" and the other 3 cards to Cam "A". this should make it easier on our loader "CHRIS" awesome guy. always running with P2 cards. :)

Hope that answers your questions. Adam is so busy with all the different hats he is wearing, he is probably not sure of how we have split the P2 cards. Again like I said before, this crew likes to keep things tight. so Cam "A" cards don't get used on Cam "B" unless it is a must. :) (so professional you know)

Ha!

Probably in Orange County. Seriously!

really? i've got an aunt that lives in orange county...

If you shot in richmond though that would be SOOO Sweet!! haha.

You should definitely do another blog for your next production. I would be hooked on every line. But I would see why you wouldn't... but hey... if you ever need a helping hand and your shooting in the O.C. over the summer... I could definitely come and be of service... but i'm only just now working on my first short soo.... yeah anything you need you can PM me. it'd be really cool to work with someone like yourself.

Well someone has to ask the camera settings question, so it might as well be me. What are you guys using for settings?
