Jan -

I am looking at buying an HPX in the next few weeks. Will new units have the fix or will they have to be sent in as well?

Thanks,

Mark

I just got mine delivered last night and to my eye I think it has a green cast. Paid for it two days ago.

So, when things are slow, it's going in.

Awesome camera tho.

Hi dotconn,

Can you PM me with your serial number?

Trying to nail down the start date of the production and to see if yours was an April production.

Thanks,

Jan

I live in the caribean, no warranty right? Only US?

Your camera is covered by a warranty, it is in the country of origin for your camera. If you registered your camera for the 4 year extended warranty in that return email it would have told you where your warranty was located. This is a warranty repair and will be handled as such.

Hope this helps,

Jan

This is not a joke, just contact Panasonic in Germany, It is a software fix but it can not be addressed by a simple download.

Best,

jan

Thank you Jan. I didnt know that! I wait the whole time that an update is published. Today, I wrote an email to PAN-D and wait now.

Gotta love the magic wand service that Germany has. Wish they'd send one over here. Wonder what the difference is?

It basically is the same here once it is on the bench. Additionally the number of cameras here versus the number of cameras there is about 15 to 1. We a heavily populated with HPX500s here compared to the rest of the world. Volume alone is what takes the time to get it on the bench.

Best,

I'm seriously considering purchasing an HPX500 in the next few weeks. How can I be sure the camera I purchase will not have this problem and have to go back? Can you tell me where the serial numbers begin for the cameras that have the problem fixed? Thanks . . .

Hi,

The deal is that some of the dealers have sent their inventory in as a proactive move, so the serial number is not necesarily the best cluse. I would ask the dealer about it. But I do believe it is the May production but the factory has not answered the question so I am not totally certain.

When the finally answer I will post it here.

Thanks,

Jan

Hi Jan,
we just got the HPX500 from Abel Cine Tech...it just came in today from Panasonic, there shouldn't be a need to get it updated, right?

How much should we insure these cameras for when we ship them? UPS just quoted
me about 200 dollars to ship it to you from Atlanta with 10,000 insurance. That seems a bit high to me.

They say that anything over 5000 in value has to go by air. Even 5000 value is about 100 dollars.

Maybe we should just hand it back to the dealer and let them eat the cost. Sounds fair to me.
