That sucks! At least you are cleared to go.

I think "Corrado Lives" should be your viral marketing campaign. So inspiring.

Good luck this week. Can't wait for updates.

Adam's probably gonna be too busy to give us the kind of updates we need, so we must appoint a "reporter" to follow the Corrado team around, to whom Adam can dictate updates.

Someone volunteer... we must keep this going... :)

Ok Barry I volunteer for the job. You guys chip in for the airfare and the room and I take my HVX-200 and I wont even sleep. I be right there when inspiration hits Adam. I'll get as close as I can until they tell me to get back, way back that is.

I would gladly pay for the opportunity to be there and capture the birth of a wonderful career thats about to blossom into a fast pace full speed ahead adventure. We all need an adventure and one like this would be just fine.

Adam were all just a little jealous!

Thanks for all the input and the education of a real life scenario of movie making.

These posts make me feel that were all a little better off than we were before.

Barry, IF I was ANYWHERE within 500 miles of LA, I would be there!!! (I even eluded that I would be a comp bts guy if I could, a few weeks back!)

This is going to be special!

Yeah shoot if I wasnt in oklahoma I'd take a few weeks/months whatever it takes off to follow adam around and take some notes. Hope your first day goes well Adam! (and the rest of them too!) You rock man!

There will be some intimate, complete, nationally published documentation of Adam's journey. That's all I can say.

D

Day 1

I'm not going to leave you guys stranded without updates! So here goes:

Call time: 0700
Pages Scheduled: 5 1/8

I left the house at 0600 and drove my grip truck up to Duarte, where we are filming. I was there at 7. The truck ran like a top! My crew saw it and they were like - wow - amazing truck. Everyone was happy.

The catering showed up and it was the shits. My first AD is going to call and straighten Nora out because last time he used them the food was great.

We were hoping to start shooting by 8:30. Ha! Hilarious. We have no production design team so we all moved the furniture in the mansion to suit what we wanted.

At 8:00 am Tom Sizemore and Frank Stallone showed up, and the party started. Man, did they riff off each other. Most of the crew had worked with Tom on studio pics before, but never on a low budget. Their proximity to him was very new to them.

By 9:30 we finally got to a point where we could start shooting something. Now let me tell you, my crew is a force of nature. Some of the most experienced guys in the business here. My DP David Fox is the bomb. Wait till you guys see the stills!!!

So we started shooting. This camera re[resents a HUGE learning curve for union camera crews. I get the impression they think it's kind mickey mouse, and I suppose it is compared to how they work. The footage coming out of the monitor was stunning.

Shoot went very slowly at first and by lunch, we were firmly behind.

After lunch, my first ad suspected we were not going to make our day. We looked at our watches, and determined the SAG overtime rate would come into effect at 4:30, at which time we would have to pay overtime.

Now I'll tell you what - on a guy like Tom, overtime at time and a half is a good reason to sell your organs for money. You just don't go there.

So we determined to not utilize overtime unless we were in deep ****. And we didn't.

We finished our five and one eight pages for the day, on time.
We discharged our actors, started wrapping, and did a walk away.

Stats for the day:

Pages: 5 1/8
Arrival: 0700
Packed up: 1730
Problens:
  • Blew a fuse (not circuit breaker!) in a house with 100 year old wiring. Had to replace
  • One of my HMIs (1200) died. Either the ballast or head cable. No time to figure it out.
  • Genny kept randomly switching off one of the two legs.
We pushed HMI light through the windows, and lit the interiors with Kinos and China balls. The look is stunning.

A good day but a hard day, Now we're really rolling. Tomorrow we have a longer day, 7 pages, with one squib hit to set up.

I am so stoked. Tom is a great ambassador for the film. He tells everyone how much he likes the story, how happy he is to be there, For such a big star he is so good to the crew, so generous with his time.

Which is why I didn't want to beg for more time on day 1.

My goals for the production of Corrado:
  • We will make a great film
  • We will not work the actors over 8 hours if we can help it.
  • We will keep crew days to under 12 hours.
  • We will bring the movie in on time and on budget.
That's it. Stills very soon!!!!

Wow, great reporting Adam! That's ridiculous how you managed to shoot so quickly the second half. Glad the actors are riffing off each other, Tom sounds like he's great to work with. I can't wait for stills.

Good luck tomorrow! I hope the squib hit goes well!

Awesome stuff, Adam! You must have the stamina of a bull to put in a taxing day of shooting and then write a comprehensive production report!

The least we can do in return is continue to cheer you on!

Yeah it's much appreciated.

Adam's priorities:
  1. Make a great movie.
  2. Sleep. (hopefully)
  3. Keep us informed.
  4. Personal hygiene (I mean something's gotta give, right? Time to shave after you're wrapped :D )
