New Short - Golden Hour

Hello everyone!

I have posted a short film on my website showing footage of the area around my house up in the foothills of Northern California.

I also have a short film that I directed that was entered into he 168 Project Film Festival a few weeks ago.

You can find both films in the "Movies" section on my website.

Some information about the films:

- "Golden Hour" was shot on my Sony EX1 clean as I am still waiting for my Letus Extreme to come.
- I shot all the footage for it in about an hour between 6:00pm-7:00pm.
- Edited in Final Cut Pro 6 in native 1080p24 XDCAM EX, graded in Magic Bullet Looks
- Mostly this short was the result of me anxious to film SOMETHING on my new camera because I was getting tired of waiting for my Letus Extreme to arrive, so some of the footage and edits aren't the greatest, some shots tend to linger on for ages after I watched it a few times.
- I had the camera on auto whitebalance, so there are a few scenes where the color changes unexpectedly, Unfortuantely, I didn't notice during the shoot, so it shows up in the final film.

- "Collapse" was shot on a Canon XH-A1 with a Redrock Micro 35mm Adapter with a variety of Pentax K and Canon EF lenses.
- Project 168 is a timed film festival where you have 168 hours to produce a short film based on a randomly assigned Bible verse. Visit http://www.168project.com for more information about the festival.
- There is a time limit of 11 minutes for 168 Project shorts, so we had to cut quite a bit of material to fit that criteria. Perhaps I will post a full edit with all of our footage at some point down the road.
- Full credits are included at the end of the short, although they scroll by pretty quickly due to the time limit.
- Most of the support equipment used in this film was home made, including the dolly, jib, and shoulder mount.
- We have some behind the scenes footage I will try to post on my site in the next few weeks.

Thanks for viewing.

Is that the theme from Casper The Friendly Ghost???

But in all seriousness it has some great shots... lots of color and i did notice the color shifting and i thought for a moment you did different color grades and cross-faded them. Overall some beautiful shots. i live in LA and there aren't many plants down town. haha. I'm gunna check out your other film now.

Yes it is from the Casper movie, the title is "Casper's Lullaby." James Horner has written some great music. Thanks for watching and the comments!

Hey , great footage in "Golden Hour"! that ex1 does an amazing job.
& "Collapse" was very good too , it sends a very good message to the audience , great job

Thanks jd. It's a good thing that I filmed it when I did because the flowers are pretty much wilted by now! I never even planned to do Golden Hour in the first place... I wanted to wait for my 35mm adapter, but I was getting REEEALLY anxious to use the camera on SOMETHING.... So, I took my tripod and camera outside, and just shot stuff that looked cool. It turned out OK for something that was spontaneous, I suppose.

Nice job! Beautiful images, some do linger a bit but nothing that can't be tweaked...and after all....can you ever really be done tweaking?

Keep up the good work!
