New Image sensor 100X's more sensitive

Interesting.
I'm certain it will be a long time before we see anything like this used in a professional video capacity though.

I remember thinking we were all going to be shooting on single chip Foveon cameras a while back....
...still waiting on that one.
:)

This specific technology, I doubt it. But like with so many advances, this will surely raise the bar for our future cameras. Maybe the HVX 200-B. Just kidding guys. Don't go asking when! :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

I'm still sceptical because they only showed a B&W sample image.

There's nothing odd about that. CCD and CMOS chips also only detect luminance. You must put a colored lens over the sensor (bayer pattern) or split the light with a prism and use three sensors, to get color images.

Right, all sensors we use now are B&W. Foveon is the only native color sensor, and it's really just a sandwich of three B&W sensors...

Ah, this discussion reminds me of my favorite Mark Shubin article, where he states how film is more digital than digital video. I think it was in Videography magazine in 2004 or '05. Anyone wanting a brain twist should give it a read!
