Hey Guys,

I just found out about this movie, named This World Of Ours. It is directed by a 19 year old named Ryo Nakajima, this is his FIRST film. He wrote, directed and did the cinematography. It's been in some of the big festivals. Such as Japan Film Festival, Rotterdam Film Festival, and the Berlin Film Festival. Below is a link, check out the trailer, I guarantee you will be surprised.

Now, I couldn't get what it was shot on, but it looks like the DVX.

DVX, it seems.

DVX, it seems.

manny,

Good evening. If you go to the film's site and check out the 'director' link, you find a fine picture of Ryo with his camera.

Thanks for bringing this film to the surface!

Cheers,

John

Ryo Nakajima
Born in 1983 in Yamanashi Prefecture

This work took 4 years to complete.
I began working on the screenplay when I was 19 going 20 ; at the time, I was a hikikomorin which means I was socially withdrawn and never left the house.

I could not find my place in life, and through days of doing nothing, because emotionally cornered.
I decided to make a film back then because I felt a strong desire " to connect with somebody and break out of my own shell".

But when I began the production, I realized that filmmaking was a fight against teh walls of reality. the difficulty of gathering supporters. The lack of funds, time, and technique.
The difficulty of communication. the Production almost came to a halt, and I felt like running away. But because my crew believed in me , I was able to keep going.

During the long shooting schedule, we all became better friends , improved
tecnique-wise, and overcame various major obstaces together.

When the editing was finished and the work completed. I was filled with deep emotion.
I am hoping now that this film does not just end here and that it leads the way to our future.

I would like as may people as possible to see it.

Well, it seems your link goes to the very photo I'm on about. Hmmm. Perhaps there's an idea for TimeFest in here somewhere. In the very least, there will be a place in ClickAllTheFlippin'LinksBeforeYouReplyFEST.

Cheers.

Hey flimflamfilms,

Nice to talk to a canuk! I'm in Ontario. Anyways, I saw the trailer and the color space and clarity of the video looked more like the sony cam's or maybe hvx200. The reason why I ask, is because I would like to know his settings and work flow!

manymoosh,

I've spent a lot of time in Ontario (Toronto, Barrie, and cottage country), some beautiful landscape out there.

You are obviously far more experienced with cameras than I to be able to identify the looks of certain cameras. Man, I hope he filmed with the DVX because if he did it just shows (once again) the incredible images one can get from this fine camera. The screenshot that is his banner on the website is an awesome image.

Cheers,

John

If you're replying to me, i just wanted to emphasize, cause it impressed me.

so was it shoot by the DVX?
you can see the person in the middle holding a DVX at the STAFF gallery....

also it just said he started to write the scrip when he was 19, so it must be later when he directed it.

Rad,

Actually, I was replying to manymoosh. I, too, was impressed by the same statement by Ryo.

Also, I checked out your film 'Make Sure'. Very nicely done. Some excellent lighting. The shot of your character on the roof is very well executed. Good punchline too.

Cheers,

John
