Shooting on the water in Fl

I'm shooting this weekend in the Florida keys. We will be on the water most of the day shooting some fishermen. I had a few questions as I'm pretty new to this camera and shooting:
1.Do I need a polarized filter for this?
2.What would be the best setting (I'm shooting to an fs-100) 720p/30p?
3. The water will be calm where we are but do you recommend using a cover for the camera regardless? I have the porta brace fitted cover
4. What the best way to clean the camera after use in saltwater?
Many thanks for any help you guys can offer.

1. Yes
2. Depends on the look you want. Personally, I shoot everything in 720/24pn.
3. If the water is calm, I don't cover the camera. Anything that gets in the way of working the controls quickly has to go. If there are rollers or wind, cover the camera.
4. I just use a damp washcloth and wipe it down. For especially dusty or salty-spray days, I'll take the eyepiece and hood off and rinse them in water.

And if you're doing paying gigs in these types of environments, you better factor in the cost of a new camera each year and divide it up among the jobs you do. If you don't end up needing a new camera, great. But plan on needing one and make your clients pay for it.

I use Schneider/B&W filters for everything, if I can find them. Anything that goes in front of the lens is worth investing in.

And while I've never actually "needed" to replace my HVX, it's getting close. I assume you've seen what saltwater can do to metal, right? :D
