BIG news from Letus!

You can tell Hien is pretty proud of his baby.
Was great to see an in-depth explanation of what went into making the Ultimate.
"we also file patent for that" "and that" "and also file for that" - Hien

Also, Hien stated they are looking at a couple of months until the B4 lens relay is available, which is more than I was anticipating. It looks like the race between Brevis and Letus is on. We shall see who will be first to market for the b4 mount.

LoL!!! You can also tell that there's some Engineers behind the Letus brand name. The interview was definitely cool, lookin' forward to some footages from Phillip, Disjecta and Ryan here soon.

Hein and Queyn gave us an exhaustive run down on all the specs today. The new Ultimate is incredible.

I also have to say that the Le brothers are two of the most genuine exhibitors I have met at this years show. I am extremely impressed with Letus. They are extremely exited about there new products and really were refreshingly humble at a show were everyone comes to show off their greatness.

The Relay lens is sweet too.

ok, in your honest opinion, is it going to be work 4,500? Is the image quality going to be that much better than the LEX?

I imagine that you have to look at this from a different point of view. From the perspective of this vs. the P+S pro35 absolutely hell yes this is worth it.

Since you are looking at a price point that is above that of some of the cameras you would attach it to, this adapter is about serious business. It is at the forefront of adapter technology.

If you need the best you need this product.

If you are experimenting on your own and shooting your own films on micro budget you can probably live without it.

If you need the latest and greatest to appease clients or if your own anal tendencies direct your whims you need this product.

I look at this and the B4 relay lens as the first real alternative to the P+S pro35 for 2/3" chip cameras. Plus it can be the first to give the latitude of using PL mount or Nikon lenses with a B4 mount camera in a professional package.

While I realize speaking of a B4 mount does not apply to most of dvxuser the fact remains that if Letus delivers this to market first it will be an absolutely groundbreaking product at the price-point of $4500 (which they love for some reason).

haha, yeah, 4,500 was his sweet spot. I would have asked him how much he wanted for his car ;)

Ok, so it's an alternative for TECHNICS, i get that. I hope it can compare. I want to see some test footage between them :)

Finally, B4 mounts? Aren't those for like ENG Fuji lenses? Are those good for cinema or film style shoots?

He's talking about using this relay lens and a 35mm adapter for a more film style shoot with the obvious benefits of using a 2/3" camera.

thanks for the link Kholi, nice interview (ther than that it was interlaced and the host needs to get knocked out with that mic!) nut lots of info about this puppy

I'm sold. If this adapter lives up to the potential I'll finaly be done with my search. Just hope the bokeh is as filmlike and on par with my sgpro. with the letus added famous sharpness.

I hope that there definitely ISNT some test footage to compare the extreme to the ultimate, because i know so many of us will be hard done by :(

I agree, but considering Scarlet this might still be a great deal... I am just thinking that at 3K it will mater even more and you go from LEX at 1080p to the Ultimate at 3k... but we still we have to wait and see if it is as an improvement as it sounds to be. I am still hopeful that it might be like $4000.

It is worth the money. The difference is quite stunning, particularly in the bokeh and the ability to operate it at very fast shutter speeds and, more importantly at all f-stops. For some, that is a deal breaker right there. And, as mentioned before, Letus is not targeting the Extreme market, they are directly competing with the likes of the P&S Mini35

Well put D.

Having used the P&S Pro35 with the Varicam, there were limitations with that adapter that the Ultimate is addressing. So this will shatter the Pro35 and the Mini35 once it is in its final production version.

Add the Ultimate to the Scarlet, and you will have one sweet camera indeed. (I'm still a little upset that the Scarlet is a fixed lens..... I would have paid $5k - $6k for interchangable mounts....)
