these arent blowout prices...i just got a brand new FS100 from Adorama for 1500 shipped (been their price for the last 6 months), and a HVX200 from an authorized dealer for $3700 shipped + $450 for a full 4-yr 100% warranty (means if they cant fix it within 14 days, you get a brand new HVX from Panasonic USA).

sorry, i just hate seeing something called "blowout pricing" and tuns out to be 10-20% more than the current competition

And who might this authorized dealer be ? Did you get the free 16 GB card free ?

Rob.

no 16gb card because i just bought the camera and accessories only kit, USA. but i did get a 250gb firestore for $1600, beat that, lol

The battery prices, are those Panasonic?

I'm sorry I can't see any reasonable defense of those battery prices on Panasonic's part, except they're greedy and want to rip you off. No offense, I love the HVX200, but come on let's just get a LITTLE BIT serious. I can pick up off-brand-name batteries for the HVX200 for $33, I can't believe it but it's true. You can search online and there's a bunch of them. I paid $80 for one of my off-brand-name batteries and now I feel I got ripped off. Yet Panasonic wants like $200 a battery.

I have some Bud Selects I'll sell you guys for $50 per bottle, it's vintage, they are almost a year old so worth a lot more. *rolls eyes* Panasonic needs to come back to reality.

crobs panasonic doesnt have a warranty like that, neither does Mack, which are the only two companys that offer warranties you can count on. and no panny dealer is allowed to sell new cameras without the 16gb p2 card,

it saounds like you bought from a crookland dealer. I'm wondering has this new camera you bought arived?

Jason

Hmmm... Is this a sign of a new HVX coming next week? ;)

No news of a new HVX at this time. This is just some stock that has been here for a little while that we're trying to move.

No such thing as a new HVX200 without card and book and for only $3700. :( Sorry.

Ouch, I just paid 3700.00 for a used one out here in SoCal, w/o p2. So his (spec-comm's) price may not be so bad, from my perspective. Luckily the one I bought had very low hours and no scratches/dings.

But it was complete (save for p2 card).

Crobs, I almost went the route you went, until I found out that this "low price" was for a body only. Read the fine print (Terms and Conditions) very closely. The camera may only come with what is listed, not with what is shown. When I asked why they had a picture of a full camera on the ad, I was told "that is just a picture of an HVX."

Hopefully, your dealer wasn't that slimy.

Doc I gave 2300 for my hvx used, and its served me well, but it is a craps shoot when buying high end cameras, many really have no choise but to buy new, and these looks like pretty good prices for a new camera. his prices are pretty good for the used stuff to, we can't all get lucky and find a rich 19year old who has pissed his mother off by knocking up his girlfriend and is forced to sell off all his toys.

I can't afford to buy new gear right now but I'm thankfull that Spec-comm gives us dvxuser folk first dibs on his blowout stock. so thank you Andrew

Jason, I am not disagreeing with you, I am actually pointing out spec's price doesn't sound too bad.

I actually tried to go to those low price ads google pops up, see above.

If Spec is a dealer, and he is offering an HVX for 3600 and change, wow. Too bad I didn't see his ad before I bought mine.

yea no doubt, but we all buy and then find it cheaper after the fact, but if youve made money with it between then and now, it really isn't a loss. or if youve made art with it, ditto, the price you found it for used it still pretty amazing, did you just get lucky or is there a story behind it.

Lucky, I guess. Got it last weekend, so the money part hasn't been realized......yet. But I have already been booked for a documentary.

Andrew i will be giving you a call next month to order my new HVX200. I figure everyday I film I will be able to deduct rental fee ($200 a day?) that I would have spent if I didn't buy the camera and I don't think it will take tooo long before I'm ahead of the game.

haha, wrong. the seller opens the box, removes the 16gb p2 card or whatever p2 card is inside, and sells it separately and i still get a brand new hvx200 for cheap. thanks for the concern though, but i was able to register it with panasonic usa, and i bought a 4yr warranty where i can get it fixed at any panasonic authorized retailer (circuit city, best buy, etc...) for free. panasonic confirmed this over the phone when i registered it, and gave them the serial number, but thanks anyway for the scary link, lol.

p.s. - read your own site..., here's a quote..."These cameras are frequently opened and stripped of their most basic accessories, items that should come with your new camera. You’ll be paying extra to get these accessories back... and the cost will add up quickly. "

why would i need a 16gb p2 card when i have a 250gb firestore with secure firewire cable? lol. he can do whatever he wants with the card. what do i care. i'm not gonna "buy it back" like this guy says, cause im not going the p2 route.

oh yeah, and your site says in bold, just more scare tactics, "repairs can take up to three months"? um....in my warranty it says that Panasonic USA will send a brand new camera of the same model if the repair center cannot fix the problem with 14 days"...lol. sounds to me that you are pretending to act like you care about the consumer, but you are just another money grubbing wolf. i mean i went back and counted...your article you sent me as "proof" is not only posted on your storefront, but it littered with "click here now" ad's for buying the camera from you. shame. you are exactly the same as the people your site talks about, just in sheep's clothing to appear like a "nice guy".
