The Singapore Buying Trip! Avoid Sim Lim!

Well I arrived in Singapore 5:30am and thought I would take a trip to sim lim...Not to actually buy the DVX100b as I've already got the best reviews for Expandore and AV8 (panasonic reseller) So anyway...This opened my eyes today when I visited Sim Lim as to how much of a con-artist these shop dealers are.
So anyway I get off the bus and enter the first floor corner and they bring you in with a smile but the minute you say DVX100b and they dont sell it then they just ignore you...they dont care about helping you...and if they do sell it...This is what happens.
The 1st one I ask to have a look at the camera...he's all smiling again! He says to me "it's very professional camera why dont you get small one" I say "because I'm making a film. then I mention NAB "WHAT! I DONT KNOW WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT" Then I say I will wait till about may "oh oh it wont go down what do you think it will go down in price? This is professional camera! they dont go down in price!"
HAHA wtf! I can't believe how decieving these people are! Every shop bar one were just very devious...
anyway He then says "you buy in may then I not show you camera"

Ok...Another shop I see the DVX again...I just wanna get my mits around it to see how it feels...and he puts it back in glass case yet even then he's watching over me like a hawk! I mean like i'm gonna break in and steal it!
He didnt even know what NAB was! LOL

And another shop quoted me $4500SGD WTF!!! I'm so glad I know what I'm doing with help from you guys on this forum... Just thought I would share the experience...There's no point going to sim lim...I went to every camera shop on the two floors for about 2 hours and each one either lied to me or didn't want to know me if they dont sell it.

Hee hee,

you go to sim lim to get computer parts. As for camera, you get good deals for consumer cameras only.

For semi pro camera and stuff, you go to Expandore.

Oh :D and yep I agree...Expandore or AV8...AV8 sounds good because they are an authorised seller and a trainer for Apple's editing software aswell but I'll check them both :)

I actually bought the 102B from the authorised dealer (Sensys). It comes with one year warranty from Panasonic. I did shop around Sim Lim and Expandore. Sim Lim sets do not come with warranty. If you wanted warranty, you pay something like $200 more. Same with Expandore.

Thanks Fpser, I'm going to have a look at Sensys...I went to expandore's address but someone said it had moved...I'm going to try and find AV8 another Authorised dealer at waterloo centre but couldnt find it last time i went there. At sim lim I decided to go again for a laugh and just to have a look at the camera as it makes a change from only seeing it online. I went into Hai Chew, the guy again standing over me like a body guard even when I said I was ok...I then go and say...Why are you standing there? You know it puts me off buying the thing if you are watching me...he doesnt smile and keeps mumbling...I say...O.k I'll buy from a shop where they dont do that" :)
