"Berlin" - A Norm Sanders Film - DVD NOW AVAILABLE

Just watched it. Fantastic. Loved it.

And for the record, I didn't have any problems with the audio mix. I could hear the dialog fine. I was listening on in-the-ear headphones if that makes any difference, but it was clear and well balanced to me.

THAT, might be something I can easily adjust, Brandon, I'll check it out. It's actually just the same guy she's talking too, and whom we cut right back to, but I noticed that before you brought it up as well. Just wasn't enough for me to want to change ... when I thought about it, it did give that whole section a faster pace ... a sense of urgency, because of the additional cut.

Shawn, I'll see about rendering it out to MOV for you Mac folks who refuse to get anything on your system that can play WMV. ;) Otherwise, I'd imagine there's a free download out there so that you can play WMV files.

Larry, I've still got to comment on that film you showed me, but could you let me know how you were able to do that FLASH set up? Oh, and glad you liked the trailer.

COOL TRAILER! The scene of the 360 degree rotation around the husband and wife was breathtaking! I am excited to see this! Will it be done in time for Action on Film Festival?

No worries ... whenever you get a chance.

I used the following tutorial to create the Flash set up: http://eugenia.gnomefiles.org/2007/09/12/from-dvhdvavchd-to-flash-video/

If you go to that tutorial above, it references an earlier tutorial which will help you generate h.264 (.mov) files of your film as well.

Both of these are from a Vegas perspective ;)

Sweet, thanks Larry!

Matt, I've never heard of that fest. Is it for action based films though? This is more drama based.

I also second the Mac port...I had to transfer this over to a PC laptop to watch....I had to touch PC keys....(kidding, I'm not one of those guys!) But yea, a nice H264 file would be great!

Norm, the QT file I gave you a link to of my film, I rendered that straight out of Vegas. I rendered it using the Sony AVC/AAC and used the PSP preset. It gave me a great compromise of quality and file size.

Okay, you finicky Mac users ... I'm uploading an mp4 for you. :) It's my first attempt at an HD with this codec, so I can see it's not perfect (some stutter near the beginning compared to the WMV, and the audio appears off by a few frames from the video), but at least Mac people that haven't gotten around to being able to view WMV files can at least see it until I get a better fix in place with the permanent website.

Trailer B for "Berlin"

Trailer B for "Berlin"

I'm uploading Trailer B now. I'm really pleased with it ... was teasing with the idea of having VO accompany the title cards (i.e. movie guy voice), but really like it as is. Personally, I like this one better than Trailer A... it's cleaner, more streamlined, and just all around flows differently/better.

For you Mac folks, I'll get a .MOV or mp4 up by tomorrow hopefully, but it won't be HD. I'm also going to repost that file format of Trailer A, as I'm just not happy with the HD turnout in that file. Since QTPro7 doesn't seem to have a native render for HD, nor can it read my uncompressed AVI (no idea why), I'll have smaller frame sizes for those formats.

Anyway, it's HD in the above wmv link.

Enjoy. DVD is being authored this weekend, and will be sent out for replication next week.

Are you using Premiere? The uncompress avi option in Premiere uses a lossless codec that only Adobe software can read. Put the uncompressed file back into Premiere and render out as Microsoft Avi with Compressor set to None. Then QTPro will read it.

Huy Vu, I'm using Vegas 8 .... not sure what the issue is, as it never did that before, but I found a work-around for HD mp4's, thanks. :)

"Berlin" - TRAILERS

"Berlin" - TRAILERS

I'll update the front page with these soon as well, and eventually even get that production journal in there to document the path this film took ... but for now my priority is to get the DVD out this week for replication, do the website for the film, and then a TON of personal stuff with hard deadlines (i.e. taxes ... tick, tock, tick, tock).

Here are both Trailer A & B for "Berlin", in High Definition, for both Windows Media Player and Quicktime:

Hey Norm,
I sent you the latest DVD label the other day. Just wondering if you got a chance to review it.

Great trailers by the way!

I did, thanks Jeremy. Sorry I'd not gotten back to you on it. I'll likely need to have a tweak done to the extra features on the back of the cover (or I can on this end, if what I have is the final), as I'm adding subtitles for at least French, and possibly German on the DVD as well ... for festival reasons primarily. What a pain staking process it is though!
