talk about pressure. No worries, I work best under pressure.

Anyway, lets get back to the task at hand and give the thread back to Adamo.
Unless of course he is enjoying this and needs a little break from posting to make some calls.

If I haven't said it before, thanks for all your post Adamo.
:)

re: storyboards/shotlist- Scorsese storyboards every shot, Altman improvised almost everything. Chacun son gout. Good and bad movies come from both methods.

Hey guys,

No worries. I'm cool with you guys holding down the fort while I'm busy!!!!! The thread needs updates.

OK, today I have a handshake deal with my lead. It's different than last time with the other guy. This guy seems so genuine. We hit it off like we were old pals, and share the same vision for the role.

I know I probably said this with the other guy, but now comparing the two of them, I can clearly see the differences. This guy is a real team player - a trooper.

He's better looking, more like what I had in mind, has a huge female fan base, which is great for hype on the movie.

I'm going to reveal who he is as soon as the deal is signed.

I'll give you a clue - he's a friend of Bruce Willis and has been in 3 of his movies.

No, he's not an A lister, but he does have his own little following.

More tomorrow.

To all who guessed via PM - Jack Daniel Stanley wins the prize.

Good guess, man.

Now don't tell until I do!!!!1

BTW: The prize is a beverage of your choice redeemable in LA!

Im pretty sure i know who it is too. and if its the guy i think then wow that was a great find.

He is a good actor and will be better then the original choice i think. I would have thought this guy would be out of your price range but props on getting him.

I really am excited to read this script and see this film, this thing is gonna get distribution easy just based off of the cast, if you make this thing into a quality film you should be able to land atleast a limited theatrical run.

Alot of pressure on you as a director, you got talented actors and a supposedly good script, now you gotta come through. Its what its all about, Have fun and keep the updates coming.

Yeah I'm tired and have no clue who it is, but I'll wait patiently as I'm just not good at trivia like this. Anyways congrats on getting a lead you're happy with though! I imagine its a good feeling to have someone pretty much nailed down with shooting coming up soon. Good luck and keep posting!

My day was a blur today. I don't even know what I did all day. I'm getting kind of run down and feel over tired for no reason.

Some things I did today:

1. Did up my lead's deal memo. I've quickly come to learn that doing a deal memo is the job of the producer. Memo sound like a lame term to me. It's really an employment contract. The contract summarizes the dates the performer works, the compensation, the billing (actors are reaaaaaallly particular about this), arrangements for their time on set, etc. I use a pretty standard form. For the small actors, I have a 3 page form. For the big actors, a 7 page form. It's just that I know the lesser knowns won't run theirs past an attorney, so why be verbose. The bigger cast will have a lawyer look at them, so may as well put more verbiage in there. Lawyers love that ****.

2. Fielded a bazillion calls from agents and managers pimping their people. Even though the breakdown was closed for submissions on Friday.

3. Finalized some locations. Made a halfhearted effort to find some I don't have.

4. Talked to the gun guy about supplying some replica guns instead of renting them. He has tons. We use replicas / rubbers on the days when they do not need to be fired.

5. Contacted agents about booking the minor parts I've put out a breakdown for. I've cast these off their headshot and reel since they arenot super important parts and these guys are all pros. Most people are excited, a few puzzle me.

One that stands out: The role of "waiter". Yes, that's really what the role is. THe guy comes to the table, says something to Corrado and Julia along the lines of "excuse me sir, you have a call in the kitchen" or something like that. I call the agent to book this guy.

Agent:
Sooooo.....is this background work?

Me:
No, he would have a line.

Agent:
oh, what, like 'do you want some coffee?'

Me: Something like that.

Agent:
I see. I'll have to check if he's interested in that role.

Me: Interested? You submitted him! The role was clearly labeled "waiter", needed for one day - what did you expect?

Ultimately he called his guy, and his guy wanted the role, but sheesh. Some people. They just think you're going to call and offer them the lead in Titanic 'cause they're so great.

Another little tidbit -

I've been informed that we got who I wanted to play Vittorio (Sizemore's father) in the movie. It was only a one day deal, so I wanted a name to cameo. This someone had to be in his mid '70s.

I wound up getting Ken Kercheval for a great price, very close to scale. Ken played Cliff Barnes in over 300 episodes of Dallas. He'll be great as the aging mob boss (where he mainly sits in bed and gets shot in the end.)

I'm excited to have him. My mom used to watch Dallas. Old school, man. Old School.

Adam I know this is really a question for your DP, but what format are you shooting on? Any details on the camera system which will be used?

Wow Adam,

That's cool. Guess I am a geezer, I used to watch Dallas and Ken was a good baddie on it. He ws lots of fun to watch work, hopefully he can give you that mischievious quality he used to have on Dallas, he was a barrel of laughs.

Good score, he will be good.

Dan

I've had a blast reading about your adventures here Adam, Kind of wish I was local there, I'd help out on the project for free just to give you some support here.

You're living the dream there man, I cant wait for the big day and I wish you the best on filming.

I'm curious as well if the production is still being helmed on two (2) HVX200's and Letus Extremes with Zeiss lenses... or if the package has been bumped up to something more?
